When I first asked my parents where babies came from they told me they came from stoes and that I had been bought on half-pice at k-mart. I believed this until I was in fifth grade.

When I was a child, nobody bothered to explain me about sex (parents thought it was school's obligation and viceversa). At school we only learned about the sperm and the egg, but never about HOW they got together! Therefore, I used to think they mixed up on the toilet. I would stare down there for a while and wonder how the future baby would get into the mother's womb afterwards...

When I was younger I used to beleive that to have a baby a woman had to wish for it and if she was lucky she would get pregnant and that at the birth it would pop out of her belly button

When I was about 5, I believed that if you put your arm around your friend's shoulders, you'd have a one-armed baby when you grow up. I spent hours praying to God everytime I forgot and put my arm around my friends. I used to throw fits when people interrupted me because it meant I had to start my prayer all over again - I got interrupted a lot. I'm 24 now and my family members still use the story as a trump card to win any and all arguments with me.

that when a woman wanted a baby she had to press her tummy button every day to make her tummy get bigger as the baby grew then when she thought the baby was ready she pushed her belly button really hard and the baby just appeared in her arms

when i was a kid, one of the elders used to tell that i was born due to reproduction . I used to feel so bad. i used to see that elder guy in a bad sense. Actually i didn't know how was i born. I had some kind of feeling that i just came in this earth. Now when i remember those days i feel like laughing. Still we don't say to kids the actual reason abt. how they are in this world. We just say they are the gift of god. Later they gonna know theirself.

I come from India, where talking about sex is considered highly taboo. In my school, there was nothing called sex or health education. So when I moved to an American school in the 6th grade, I was shocked to hear the other kids (who were quite half-knowledgable) talking about periods and sex, which I had never heard of or even wondered about before. Being an only child, I didn't even have to face the question of where do babies come from. Tired of being teased by my peers, I went to the library and took out a book for kids, which showed the biological process of the sperm meeting the egg and the cycle of ovulation. I still didn't get the sex part, and thought that when things got hot between a couple, the sperm (which I assumed to be the tiniest-- as mentioned in the book-- little invisible dust particles) jumped from the man and into the woman's body to impregnate her!! I had no clue about the vaginal hole either!!
