My mother told me that if I skipped school that police would come and drag me out of my house in my underwear if they had to, and take me to school half naked. Remarkably I believed this until at least the beginning of High School.

When I was younger, I watched a movie about a serial killer. Now not knowing the spelling I thought it was a cereal killer meaning they'd go around stabbing cheerios.

I used to believe that if you dialed 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 that the police would come to your house and you would get in BIG trouble.

When I was around three, my dad would always joke that people weren't allowed to walk on logs that had drifted up onto the beach. He said that the log police would come and arrest us. Until about age 6, I believed that and spend my days terrified that I would be arrested for walking on logs.

I used to believe that joy riding was riding in the car without a destination or purpose so every time my mom would put me in the car to drive me around so I would fall asleep I would have to think of a excuse for the police for when they pulled us over for having a ‘fun time driving’ I lived in fear of being put in jail for having fun in the car!

I was told by my grandmother that all bad people had to eat blackeyed peas and cornbread and drank only water when they get put into jail.

I thought there might be a law that you needed to be a certain age to buy a cup of coffee. I was almost suprised as a teenager that I could get away with it.

I used to think that the police just ran at random people arrested them and took them to the "indoor people zoo" where the zoo keepers had cattle progs (a large tazer) and they let free people throw stuff at you. I even compared the police to the nazis in the 7th grade. ha I was stupid. (a cop saved my life in the 10th grade and I reconsidered)

When I was younger, my mom told me that if i keep writing on myself with ink, that it was against the law and the ink police was going to come and take me away from her.... It got me to stop writing on myself...lol

I used to believe that if I watched America's Most Wanted, the criminal that they were looking for would get mad because I was watching it and come get me.

When I was quite young, I saw an Alfred Hitchcock tv show that had these two brothers killing their aunt to get her money by grinding up glass and putting it in her food. After that, whenever my mom made soft boiled eggs for me and I found a small piece of shell in it, I thought it was glass and that she was trying to kill me.

I used to believe that the police were the good guys that could capture all bad guys no matter what.
I also used to believe that once you break the law the cops would come, take you to jail and send you to court.
I used to believe that when you needed a cop one would come and do their job. That was until I found out that at best cops only catch criminals after the crime was committed and are not really modern day knights in shining armor.

I used to think burglers were like those pool creepy crawleys but on a pole on wheels with blue and white streamers!!! Don't know where I got that one from.

Whenever I'd hear "serial killer", I'd wonder what it was. One day, I 'found out' that a serial killer was a person who stole your cereal and would murder it.

I was so proud.

I used to think that a cereal killer was a peron who went and ate all of peoples cereal
And left nothing back for you…..after that I hid the cereal from everybody I even slept with it. then one day my sister asked were the cereal is and I screamed “YOU’LL NEVER HAVE IT YOU,YOU, YOU CEREAL KILLER!!!!” then she told me what a sereal killer really was…..that was when I was 9 (tells you how smat I am)

I used to believe that thrift stores were where thief's came to sell all the goods they stole. I couldn't figure out why the police didn't just wait outside the store to catch the thief's.

i used to believe that when you sleep you had to cover your whole body. and if you didnt a robber would come in and cut off whatever part of your body was showing. sometimes i left my hair out hoping i could get just a haircut

When i was small, after seeing a poster in mcdonalds, i thought that robbers were little burgers with blindfolds. It made sence because another name for them was 'burglars'

i used to hear about people getting stoned all the time and after reading the book The Lottery i always thought that stoned meant... well, that people were throwing rocks at someone. one day in 8th grade our class had a discussion about drugs and the word stoned came up again... when i was younger some people threw bricks at my dog and i brought that up and said that my dog got stoned!!! lol!!!

Every time my family traveled to the coast, they'd buy a crab. Never wanting to share it with me, they told me that it was illegal for people under 21 to eat crab..I believed them for several years.
