I used to believe that "smoking pot" involved melting something in a large pot until it smoked; a smoking pot. That commercial with the egg and the "this is your brain on drugs" did not help clear up this confusion!

When I was a kid my parents used to smoke pot right in front of me. And I kind of knew it was bad but I thought a joint was a kind of "home made cigarette". I figured this out on my own, Lol. Well, when I started kindergarten, my teacher was talking about drugs and asked if we had any questions. Needless to say i was curious that home made cigs weren't mentinend in this drug talk. I asked the teacher "My Mom and Dad smoke cigarettes, but they're funny cigarettes. They make them theirselves...."
Later, the teacher told my Mom that she knew what they were up to. But she said she woulden't turn them in as long as they promised to stop doing it around their kid! Man, is that messed up or what???
Thought the police were the bad guys - ready to put you in jail at the slightest mistake.
When I was a kid, I thought drugs and antibiotika was the same thing. I'ts because the Norwegian name for a type of drug is Narkotika. I thought antibiotika and narkotika was the same thing, so I believed that doing drugs was okay until i became elleven and started to understand the difference
I used to believe, probably up until the age of 12 or so (sad) that a "Drugstore" was a place to sell actual drugs. And I thought I was so clever, mainly because I thought I could help the police cut back on the drug problem infiltrating our society, cause hey, I knew where all the drugstores were...
When I was younger and I didnt eat my dinner my mother told me she was going to call the food poliece and they were going to come and take me away. She was really just calling my dad at work, and when he would answer she would say... "is this the food poliece?"... years later my mother told me that the first time she did it my dad had no idea who that it was her and thought that she was a crazy person and she just kept going with it and when he came home later that night she told him that it was her and I didnt eat my dinner and ever since then he would go along with it.
When I was 14 or 15 I used to believe that rape just meant anal sex, so I wondered why rapists were sent to jail. What was all the fuss about, different people like different things and they shouldn´t be punished for that!!! (I was corrected many (many) years after that..., i´m a lawyer now...)

When I was little I thought serial killer was some mad man after my breakfast. (cereal)
When I was about five or six, I used to walk around the neighborhood with my mother a lot. I was always worried that some policeman might come and arrest her, because he thought that she had kidnapped me. After thinking this scary thought, I was always sure to walk around with a big smile plastered on my face to let the police know that I had not been kidnapped, but had come willingly.

I used to believe that a widower was a guy who killed married husbands to make thier wife a widow
When I was 6 or 7 me and my Best Friend Alexis Acord spent the night @ each others house every other week. We used to think that every time a white van drove by, someone got kiddnapped!!!

Up until recently I thought that arson was a flammable chemical, like gasoline, that criminals used to start fires.
When I was about six I heard my parents and their friends in the next room light up some pot to smoke when they thought I was asleep. I was petrified that the police would come any minute to arrest them (my parents didn't usually smoke pot, their friends brought it). I smelled the strange smell of the smoke and covered up my face with the pillow because I figured that then I wouldn't breathe any in.
I figured that if I didn't breathe it in the police couldn't arrest me!
(of course they never came)
I used to think that rape was when you took off someone's clothes, but usually only the shirt and shoes. How wrong I was.
When I was a freshman in highschool I read an article on the world wide web about the "banadine" high. Little did I know that it was an old spoof so I shaved the inside of a bunch of banana peels, boiled them down. And smoke the brown resin trying to get high...
My wife's maid-of-honor had no idea what GHB (date rape drug). Once while at a party, my brother-in-law added sum rum to her soda bottle, put the cap back on, and handed it to her. She asked what it was and he told her "It's your soda, but I put GHB in it." She thought it was some type of alcohol and professed at her difficulty opening the cap:
"I can't open my GHB with my nails on!"

I used to believe that taxis were police cars and always make sure my seatbelt was done up if one went by.
I used to think that interpol was an international flower delivery company, although I have no idea how I came to think this, it certainly confused me when, in films, someone would be asked to check an ID with a flower delivery company.
When I was around 5, I went with my parents to downtown LA. My dad and I were waiting in the car for my mom while she was shopping at a store. We were apparently parked in a "no stopping anytime" zone (something I was unaware of at the time) and my dad ended up getting a traffic ticket. So then we just started driving in circles around the block, and I asked my dad why we couldn't just park. He said it was because he got a ticket. So I used to believe that anytime you get a ticket for any reason, you had to drive around the block a couple times.
This one was not believed by me, but by my brother.
When he was in elementary school, he either believed or had been told that bankers had this red button that they could press if there was a robber. The button would eject their seat and have them fly through the roof. He admitted that flying through the roof would not be so useful- but he still said it was present.
