When I was little, I believed that a serial killer was somebody who came into your house at night and stabbed your cereal with a knife, so I always used to hide my cereal so somebody wouldn't kill it.

When my brother was little he put a banana skin in the bathroom bin. We only put food waste in the kitchen bin, and my mum said he had to put his banana skins there in future. My brother got really worried and asked "Why is it against the law?" Even though we reassured him he was worried all that day that he would be put in jail!
When I was a kid I believed that the satellite they put into space was to watch for people who littered. So I never, ever littered, not even one little piece of paper. I just knew that the second I did the satellites would know and the police would arrest me, and that would be it.
When I was little I used to think that serial killers killed people that ate cereal, so I stopped eating cereal for a little while until my sister told me what they were.
I used to think that Johnnie Cochran was saying," If it doesn't fit, you must have quit." I couldn't figure out why he wanted OJ to keep trying to make the glove fit. I just recently found out he was saying, "If it doesn't fit you must AQUIT." (Sad thing is that I was in high school during the OJ SImpson trial.)

I used to see posters that said drug-free... and I thought it meant free drugs... so I was like "Hey mom, that's for you!" because she smoked ciggarettes.
When I was about 7 I used to be really scared of anything "bad" getting into my room at night while I was asleep. So I invented an ingenius method for keeping out the baddies: I put up my own imaginary "force-field" over my door and window. This involved drawing a square around the door or window with my finger. Of course, I had to turn the invisible ink on first by clicking my fingers. As soon as the square was complete, the force-field activated and only let good thing pass through (parents, dog, etc.). I have no idea where this protection method came from but it worked. I've never worried about "baddies" since.

I used to stare at our policeman when he went out on his bike, waiting to see if a blue flashing light would come out of his helmet!

when I was younger I used to believe a serial killer lived in cereal boxes.
People who carried guns or weapons, like police and some security guards always scared me when I was a kid. Once at the airport I got really scared, because my mom beeped while walking through a metal detector. I thought she was in a lot of trouble! The security guard came over with one of those long black hand held metal detectors and asked her to step aside. I thought it was a gun and he was going to shoot her! I couldn't understand why everyone was being so calm about all of this.
i used to believe that a "serial" killer was someone that put poision in "cereal". haha stupid i know.
My brother told me 4 different things about serial killers.
1. that they were evil boxes of cereal. 2. that they were poisioned cereal. 3. that they were evil bits of cereal. and 4. that crop circles were when evil ppl made circles in some crop to prevent production of cereal.
I knew that obviously my brother would never tell the truth, so I assumed that (since my brother had crossed out all the possibilities) the media was making it up and that serial killers didn't really exist.......

When I was in kindergarten, we had an "anti-drugs" day. I thought my sign was the best in the class. What did it say?
"Don't do AIDS."
When I was younger my Father would let me watch a show, America's Most Wanted. They did one episode about heroin and how bad it was. Well, later that night I was laying in bed thinking about heroin when I decided I needed a glass of water. I jump off my bed and feel a prick on my foot. I FREAKED OUT. Leaped back onto my bed, shouting and screaming because I thought there were people under the floor sticking needles up through my carpet to inject me with heroin. After that I'd wear sneakers all the time, afraid that if I didn't I'd be injected with heroin and become an addict.
I used to believe that sharpshooters shot something sharp, like darts. Like those guns that shot tranquilizer darts to calm an animal down in "Wild Kingdom." It was the type of gun the person used and had nothing to do with skill!
When I was little I thought people who stole somebody's wallet out of their pocket in public was a Pig Pocket. I figured that was because it was selfish and piggish to steal from other people!
I always used to believe that a robber would break into my house somehow and come into my room and steal all my stuffed animals. I had this one stuffed bear I got from my parents for Valentine's Day, and I was so scared that a robber would steal it from me. I seriously contemplated putting a sign around its neck that said "Please do not steal, very special to owner!" (Like that really would have stopped a robber who wanted the bear), but I never did because I guess I thought this would make the robber mad and he'd try to kill me, lol.
From the time I was a toddler I believed that all law enforcement was carried out by "The Man". This was, in no small part, due to whenever I did something publically unacceptable (sticking my hands or feet outside an amusement park ride, making noise in a restaurant, refusing to let go of a toy in a store) my parents would indicate the ride operator, manager, or security guard and say "The Man will make you leave," "The Man doesn't like that," and the ever-popular "The Man would have to take you away". For too long I was convinced that anyone with a uniform and a gun or just a cheap twenty cent badge was "The Man."
I used to believe that all police officers were named John Law. My grandmother told me this.
When i was little i used to beleive that the law was a big man with a white wig. i thought that if you had been bad you would have to go and talk to "the law".
