pick of the bunch

I used to believe that jaywalking was walking around naked. I think it had something to do with the phrase "naked as a jaybird."

I used to believe that if you tried to buy something and then at the counter realised that you didn't have enough money you could go to jail.

For a few years i believed that there was a large man whos goal it was to make it to my house and capture me and that he would spend as much time on this as necessary. I believed that he could only make progress while i myself was walking or running(i.e. he could take steps only when i did). So this being the case i ran as fast as possible everywhere, especially in my garage where i believed the danger was greatly increased. He never made it, i think he knew i was onto him.

I used to believe that when my mom or dad would get pulled over for speeding or some other traffic violation that they were going to be arrested. As you can imagine that could be tramatizing for a child.

When I was in 1st grade a DARE officer came to school. He had a huge cabinet full of drugs and was telling the kids how theese were bad and you should never use any of them. I was looking in the cabnet and loudly proclaimed MY DADDY SMOKES cigrettes like that!!
The officers stared at me funny I didnt get it. I had no clue that A joint was not a regular cigrette.

When I was around seven, I used to believe that a mad-axe murderer would come into my room at night, and that if I put my entire body under the covers and stared at the wall, he wouldn't notice me.

Whenever my parents would see a cop in my small town, they would say, "There's John Law!" I thought that there was an actual cop in town with that name, since both of my parents have worked with the police and knew many cops. I didn't realize that it was a euphemism for the police until I was 20 YEARS OLD. We were in Hawaii and my parents said, "There's John Law!", and I felt like an idiot.

When I was five I thought that if several police cars were going 100 mph on a residentual road that the back car would arrest the one in fron of his car and he would arrest the guy in front of him and so on. I was afraid that soon there would be no cops to protect my families uninsured savings account.

When i was younger somebody in primary school told me that their sister had been kidnapped in the night from her bed and all that they left in the bed was a brown paper bag with a face on it.I believed this untill i was about ten and would never sleep with the window open incase anybody climbed in,

I believed that when someone "broke the law", that meant it was no longer a law. Congress would have to make the law over again. What a lot of work!

I used to think "shoplifters" were very strong people who literally got underneath stores and lifted the entire buildings over their heads like weightlifters. Once when I was in a drugstore with my mom, I saw a muscular man with tatoos and a buzz cut. I pointed him out to my mom and said "Look, that guy must be one of those shoplifters!" My mother shushed me.

When I was around 5 years old, my mom told me it was against the law for a girl and boy who weren't married to sleep in the same bed. About a year later, I was at my grandma's house, and my cousin (a boy) was spending the night too. We were only 6 and 7, and we were really close, and talked a lot, so my grandma decided to put us in the same bedroom. I threw a fit and said that i would go to jail for the rest of my life.

I used to believe that arson was a flammable liquid, not the act of deliberately setting fires.

I used to believe that it was aganst the law to eat snow! and the police would come to take you away!

I remember in 3rd grade I asked a friend what rape was, and she told me it was when a guy took a knife and cut your lower stomach.

When I was younger I was always afraid my house was going to be broken into. I didn't want them to kill anyone, so when my dad opened the car door so I could get out (the child lock was on) I would dash out of the car and ring the doorbell madly, so all the burglars would know to get out of the house, and wouldn't become desperate enough to kill someone! To this very day I ring doorbells like that.

i used to want to be a police woman when i was young because i was terrified of going to jail and i throught if you were a cop you couldn't be arrested.

when i was little i saw the news and there was some guy sentenced to life plus 40 years, and i couldn't understand why they would keep his dead body in jail for another 40 years
