I used to make sure the covers were pulled up over my mouth so that "bad guys" wouldn't come in at night and drop drugs in my mouth. Right, like they'd waste free drugs on some kid.

I believed that the police had a laser beam like the radar detector that could tell if you had your seatbelt on and if you didn't you went to jail. My mom told me that when I was like 4 so I would always wear it. I found out otherwise when I was 16 years old.

A girl in my neighborhood used to believe (we were 8 or so) that if you called the police their job was to come over and kill whomever you asked them to.

When i heard "grown-ups" talk about serial killers, i thought someone was going to take/kill my cereal. So with the "grown-ups" I would get fearful also, but for different reasons.

When i was little my friend told me that there were always burgulars in your house every night. She said that if you were asleep the burgulars would leave you alone, but if you were awake they would kill you. So if I ever woke up in the middle of the night I would never open my eyes so the burgulars thought I was asleep

When my little sister was about four and was obsessed with all things girly, she used to think it was against the law for a girl not to wear a dress. I was a tomboy and she threatened to call the cops whenever I wore jeans.

I thought that if you went to jail you wouldn't die. I think it came from someone telling me that if I went to jail I wouldn't go to heaven and I kind of misinterpreted it. I remember imagining going to jail and being the only person left in the world (because no-one else ever went to jail of course) as humans had become extinct and i could see that crocodiles had taken over and they were crawling into the jail where I was.

When I was about 4 my family and I took a road trip with our luggage "secured" to the roof of the old station wagon.Of course all the luggage ended up on the road somewhere between CO and OK. When my dad reported the issue he called the State Patrol.I thought he had called in the trolls who lived under the bridge and I was scared crapless-there was more than one troll under the bridge? They helped locate lost luggage? My dad was fuming over the lost luggage so I never did ask why he called the trolls.I am sure I believed that the state patrol had offices under all bridges until I was 10.

I thought that mass murderers were murderers kills someone in the Catholic church.

"mass (something to do with church)"

i used to believe that when money laundering involved when someone puts cash inside the laundry machine to wash all the dirt on the money. Me and my mom thought when someone left money inside of their pockets and puts it in the washing machine is commiting money laundering.

I used to think that when someone was executed by firing squad, they were burned to death, after I found out that they were riddled with bullets.

I was born in 1962. This meant that I was just beginning to become concious during the hippie era. I heard my mother go on about the horrors of LSD, and I wanted to know what it was, and how can you tell that someone is a person who takes it. Somehow I internalized that a person on LSD assumed the appearance of the swirly rainbows that one sees in an oil slick on top of a puddle in a parking lot. And that people who looked like this left trails behind them of colored light as they walked. I looked and looked to find people on LSD but never did find any. Not a one. Oh, well.

When I was growing up both of my parents smoked cigarettes, so I was familiar with the concept. When I was about four, I was outside playing in the yard and heard my mother yelling at my older brother. She was getting after him about "smoking grass". I, of course, plucked a bunch of it out of the ground and wondered to myself "now why would anybody want to do that?"
