Until I was about 11 or 12, I thought "rape" meant scratching someone's chest with a garden rake. I had these images in my head of a girl who had been "raped" and had four parallel bloody cuts across her chest and abdomen!
I thought that there had to be a "criminal store" where one could buy burglar masks and those striped sweaters burglars were portrayed as wearing, guns, glass cutters, etc. I asked my dad where criminals got their guns. He said, "on the steet". I knew that meant OUR street, so I was looking out for handguns scattered in the gutter. He also explaned on said street is where they have to buy silencers for the guns too - because silencers are illegal. This was doubly confusing becasue shooting people in general seemed illegal.
When I was 6 we had a lot of overdue library books that we couldn't find because my sisters and I would leave them everywhere. That same year my class had taken a trip to the public library and the librarian told us that if we didn't return our books they would lock us in jail. She of course said it only to scare us into returning books, but I took it so literally that I refused to go to the library until my parents forced me into the building crying.
my little cousin who was 3 at the time, kept on freaking out and screaming and crying everytime my aunt told her she could leave her toys/books where they were and come to dinner. You see my aunt was saying "leave it there, nobody will take it" my cousin thought that NOBODY was the name of a person.

I used to believe that the rain hitting my window was really bad guys trying to cut through the glass to get into my house.
When I was about 5 or so I remember first hearing about people "taking pot". I used to think people ripped open cigarettes, poured the contents into a saucepan, light the stove and smoke the pan like a cigarette.
When I was about 5 or 6, I thought that when the police told you to put your hands up, that they were going to shoot you in the armpits. I often thought about how much that would hurt. I was about 11 or 12 when I realized it was so that they could make sure you weren't going to pull a gun or something on them.
when i was in the 3rd grade i thought that "smoking pot" was a big gigantic cauldron with smoke comming out. It wasn't until i was about 11 when i really found out what it meant.
One day when I was little I had fast-food in the car. Well, I had a leftover ketchup packet and I started playing with it. I squeezed so hard that I squirted ketchup on the ceiling of the car. The next day, I forgot all about the incident and looked in the car. I started crying to my parents, telling them that a burgalar had come in the car, killed someone, and left some blood on the ceiling. It wasn't until a year later that I remembered what I had done with the ketchup.

I used to think if you got a parking ticket, you spent the rest of your life in jail!
When i was about 6 I saw soemthing on the news that said that a mother had left her kids in the car for like 4 hours and the police came and arrested the mother, so whenever my mother went into a store w/ out me i woudl lock all the doors and sloch down so u couldnt see me so that the police wouldnt come arrest my mom!
When i was little, my grandmother was suing my grandfather's company that he worked for. Whenever someone said something about a lawsuit, i thought they meant grandpa was getting a new suit to wear.

When I was younger, my brother told me the police had an infra-red system and could see into everyones house.
When i was in first or second grade i used to get really mad at my dad because he would drink a cup of coffee while driving me to school. One day after he dropped me off at school i was really upset about his "drinking and driving" so my teacher asked me what was wrong. I told her that i was scared that my daddy was going to hurt himself or me because he liked to drink and drive in the mornings. Of course my teacher was very upset about this and took me to the princpal's office, who called my dad and asked him to come to the school for a talk. I remeber lots of laughter coming out of the office and then they came out and explained to me what drinking and driving really meant!!!!
i thought that drinking and driving meant that whenever you drank anything in the car that it was against the law. So anyway one day my mom was drinking a Pepsi or something in the car and i go in with her to work and i told everyone that my mother broke the law because she was drinking and driving.

i used to believe that if u ripped money u would be put into jail for as many years as the money was (1 dollar..one year ect..) my cousin pretended to rip a dollar i got from the "tooth fairy" one day..and i cried for the rest of the day..until my aunt explained it
when I was five me and my family were being sued and I thought that ment we were all going to jail so I was really sad and went upstairs and thought if I hid under my bed then the cops couldn't get me ( I slept under there the whole night ) and my brothers were cruel anough to play along but then my mom told me the truth :)
