My stepfather told us a story of a guy named STUBS in Carbon Cliff in IL. At the Mansor Woods boy cubs scout camp. He would tell us that when he was a boy at the camp they were playing in the woods and a little boy got lost when they found him he was tied to a tree with both legs cut off. He said that the kid maid cruches and went around killing and destroying things in and around Carbon Cliff. Which yes the camp burned down shortly after and they said that there was a shadow of someone on chruches seen running away from the camp. Still to this day I hate that Camp site which is now a apartment complex Called Mansor Woods

I used to think that my aunt had been in jail. While incarcerated, a rat came up through the toilet and bit her in the butt. As a result, she had a hairy butt. I was terrified of falling in toilets but was still able to use them. I did make sure, however, to SLAM the seatcover shut! PS My aunt was never in jail and does not have a hairy butt(that I know of) I believed this until I was about 10-years old when I made mention of it and my mother corrected me.

When i was in middle school, i told my best friend that if you put a salt and vinegar potato chip in your mouth and inhaled, you could get high....she was "Addicted" to them for an entire year.

I have 4 older brother who were always in trouble one way or another, one time when I was little I heard my mom say my one brother was arrested last night for Jay-walking. I couldnt get the picture out if my head. I didnt understand what it meant. I pictured him walking down the street naked, because I associated the term Jay-walking with the term "Naked as a Jay-bird!" I know better now. :)

My english teacher, Mr. Miller, gave us an assignment, "Write a paper on the effects of heroin on the community."

My entire assignment was about Wonder Woman.

I used to believe criminals were all called Mr. Meaner by a judge if they were caught, because I kept hearing about people charged with misdemeanor crimes on the news.

When I was very young, my sisters let me watch a modernized version (70's) of Frankenstein. There was a scene in which a man heard a knocking at the door and when he opened it, a disembodied hand fell out and started crawling towards him. From then on, that hand was under my bed and was gonna grab me if I stood next to it. I also thought that burglars were going to try to poke me with drug-filled needles and the only way to stop them was to keep the covers up to my chin, cause in my young mind, I didn't know how syringes worked and I thought that the covers would wipe off any poison before the needle reached me.

When I was about 6 I wanted to go on a bike ride with a friend but I had a skirt on, she told me I would need clips otherwise the spokes would get me. I thought the "spokes" were some kind of bicycle police who told you off if you wore the wrong clothes

i used to believe that if the police found out i had been bad, they would come to arrest me, put me straight to jail, and never let me see my mom again... that thought almost scared me to death!

I thought drugs were egg-like things that sizzled.
(My view came from that commercial of two eggs--"This is your brain"-- and then two eggs frying in a pan--"this is your brain on drugs.")

My boyfriend used to think that when the "bad guyes" had been in prison, they became cops.

What's really funny is that his father is a cop, but he never thougt of what his father might have done=)

At the age of about 5, I thought that any man carrying a bag/sack over his shoulder was a burglar.

when i was little kid when i went to bed at night i would completely cover my body with my stuffed animals because i thought that if a burgler came to my house and he tried to stab me, he would just stab my stuffed animal. yikess! i guess i watched the news too much as a child.

When I was young I was convinced by someone that if you took LSD you could "see" sound moving around the room and it was in different colours. For a long time afterwards I would wonder a) How I could make it happen without LSD (or any other drug) b) What it would look like (different sounds different colours? Soft waves or zigzaggy lines?) and c) Whenever I watched a program about drugs on TV that this was never mentioned.

I've never taken LSD, but I am assured by friends who have that this does not happen .....

When my father told us about how he was imprisoned and tortured by the Gestapo during the war, (WW2) I believed he once had been a criminal.

When Elvis died, and I heard on the radio that drugs were the reason, I assumed that they meant aspirin, since that was the only drug I knew.

I used to believe that in war movies, the soldiers of the bad side (for whichever war was the subject) were played by criminals, and the US side used live ammunition.

In England, the news often reports that "a man is helping police with their enquiries". I used to believe this meant that some lucky individual was given a notepad and pen, and asked to go round interviewing people about murders and so forth, and got to be a pretend policeman for the day!
