I used to believe that the whole reason they tore down the Berlin Wall was because of all the graffiti on it. Silly me. :oP

Until I was about 13, I believed that the Gulf War took place near the Gulf Of Mexico....
When I was somewhere between 7 and 10 we had to read a book about the atomic bombs dropped on Japan (this was in the 80s, not the 50s). The book was written from the perspective of the Japanese, and we were suppossed to be learning not to be ethnocentric (which is great). However, somehow it escaped me that my own country had dropped the bomb (maybe I'd have been more scared if I'd known we did something like that). I also didn't get it that atomic bombs hadn't been used since WWII. For weeks I'd stare at the ceiling of my bedroom waiting for a bomb to fall through and nuke me.
When we were 8-9 years old, my best friend thought guerrilla warfare meant they used actual apes. He even told our teacher, "Wow, those must be some smart gorillas!"
I use to think that if I went to Kentucky everything would be black and white! I was around 8 yrs old when my dad told us he was taking us to his hometown. The only pictures we had of dad were done in black and white so my sister and I asked him why everything was black and white in Kentucky. He just laughed and led us to believe it was true until we finally saw for ourselves once we got there! How gullible! :o)
I used to believe that Christopher Columbus was still alive and for some reason lived in the White House. And all of the past Presidents lived there as well, possibly in ghost form.

In first grade, we would come to school in our costumes for Halloween, and one girl told me she was going to be a pilgrim. I thought she was going to be a giant pill-looking thing with a mean face.
I, like so many others, was convinced (by my dad) that a long time ago when he was little the world existed only in black and white. but then they invented skittles.
You know how old movies are in black and white? I used to believe that the whole world was black in white in the old days.
I used to beleive that when TV was black and white that the whole world was. I though that there was no colour before colour television.
When i was a kid i watched reruns obviously of "I Love Lucy", "Lassie" etc....and thought the world was black & white and not the t.v.
When i was about 6 or 7, I used to think the world was once in black and white because of the old photo's and films.
I used to believe…
the world was all black and white(like tv used to be) and all of a sudden, everyone woke up to colour, thats why old films are black and white, i believed this untill i was 9!!
I used to believe the atomic bomb (the Manhattan Project)
was created by someone named Dr. Manhattan, and that the city of Manhattan had been built in his honor because of it.
When i was younger i used to think 'Wars' were 'Walls'. I thought that is you were in a war you would be stuck in a stone wall with no way of getting out. (I can still remember what i thought it looked like)
I was talking with my mother when she said that my granddad was in the war (he was still alive) i was so shocked i said ''How did he get out!''.
Then later we watched a WW1 thing on TV and my mother said ''All those people survived the war''.
Again, i was totally shocked.

I once asked my dad 'when you were little were you in black and white?'
So I guess I believed that lol XD
When I was younger I thought that since all the tv shows that were in the "olden days" were in black and white, then there wasn't any color in real life back then either.
I was 6 when current Iraq war started. All the wars I had heard about were a long time ago, and I believed that the last war ever to take place in history was WWII. I thought all the news reports about the Iraq war were history shows and we world was never ever going to have wars again.
If only that was true.
