When I was little I wasn't able to figure out how an army could win a war or battle without killing all the soldiers on the other side.

I used to believe that there was such a thing as 'the black and white days' as I thought black and white films were real and people actually lived in black and white with no colour

— Jess Smallthe past : history

As a child, I used to believe that at the time of Black and White films, everything was black and white outside and when I was born I brought color. It took me a while to realise when my dad said "You brange life into color" He didn't mean it literally.

I used to believe that color was an invention; roughly around 1955 or so. The world prior to the invention of color was black and white (of course). The rationale was that all old movies and television shows were in black and white, and therefore, color had not been invented yet.

I used to believe that the Gulf War actually took place in the Gulf of Mexico, and I imagined that the land all along the Gulf Coast was desert and you would be able to find all the wrecked vehicles and ruins from the war.

I used to believe…

hey i used to believe that because tv was in black in white before the 60s, i thought the world was black in white before then. i believed someone dropped a can of paint and it created colours and the world as we knew it was created... i was very young at the time!

When I was about 2-5 I used to believe that color didn't always exist. That someone actually invented color. I had all the proof, pictures of my grandparents and baby pictures of my parents were in black and white, old movies were in black and white.

I used to believe that because TV was in black and white, the world in the past was all in black and white.. Yeah.

Ok, this isn't my belief but one of my friends at school...
At our secondary school, our history curriculum ONLY covered the two world wars (seriously, that was all we were taught) and didn't include any Colonial or American History.

This was when the film Independence Day had only recently been released - my friend was amazed when she saw Independence day on her calendar... only having the film to connect it to, she thought there had actually been an attempted alien invasion and the 4th of July was a commemorative holiday.

To be fair though, I only found out yesterday that The Boston Tea Party was a protest against British colonists (i'm 20), I had always thought it was a slightly less- well known music festival than Woodstock, where people had drunk tea rather than dropping acid.

It's a good job GCSE's got easier.

I used to think humans had always been advanced, had airplanes, cars, and modern appliances, and "The good old days" was a conspiracy to make you feel bad about taking it all for granted. I believed ancient civilizations and cavemen were make-believe

When i was a child i thought the Gulf war was a war between rivaling Golfers.
and i imagined them shooting golfballs after each other. :)

Wen I was a kid i thought the Gulf War was "The Golf War" I pictured men running around killing eachother with golfballs and such

silly me!

— Simen .H.Athe past : wars

I used to believe that the world was black/white/grey before. Because that's how it looked like on old movies : )

I was a child in the first 60's, when The Cold War was at it's worst. Soviet Union performed testing of their nuclear bombs in Norvaja Semblja and for us living in Northern Norway that bacame a big issue. We were warned about going outdoors at time, bacause of high rates of radioactivity in the air. To me it made sense - of course it was dangerous! I used to believe that it meant radioes would fall from the sky and right on your head! Search for rescue in the basement was easy for me to understand....
