I still have a hard time imagining a historical event in color. When I think about world war 2 or earlier, I always picture it im my head in black and white even though I know better

I thought the Civil War was the Silver War.
In kindergarten, I imagined that World War Two had taken place long before the invention of guns, and everyone had fought with swords while wearing heavy armor, like in medieval times. I drew a picture of my grandpa 'in the war' fighting a guy with a big sword. My dad, his son, was very amused.
i believed that people and the world in the olden days were really black and white and that that was why my grandmother was pale and had white hair and why my mum dyed her hair and wore makeup because she was black and white to and she wanted to pretend she was younger. hmmmmmmmm so that why children shouldn't be made to watch old movies with their grandparent

I thought that "medieval" times were called "men evil" times, and felt bad for anybody who had to live back then, if everyone was so evil.
When I was in elementary school, probably 1st grade, we learned about the Underground railroad and Harriet Tubman and they played a tape with a song and they played the song over and over, so after hearing the song I believed that the underground railroad was underground and at night the slaves would go underneath the ground through these secret caves where there were railroad tracks and they would walk across the railroad, holding lanterns so they could see underground.
When I was about six years old, I loved watching black-and-white t.v. shows. But because I watched them, I thought that life when there was only black and white t.v. was actualy black and white!
I thought that everything in the world was black and white until color was "invented". I didn't know it was only referring to tv.
When i was little i used to believe when people said something happened in the 20's or 40's or whatever it wasn't really a real time it was just kind of to express something ahppened a long time ago. Like "did u put out the trash?" " oh i did that in like the 50's" Hmmmm it doesn't really make sense now.

I was very young during the first gulf war and I thought that it was fought in the gulf of mexico.
When I first saw a Yin-Yang symbol, I thought it was something new and modern used only by surfers in their surfboards. I was a bit surprised to learn it was an old symbol from an ancient religion of Asia!
I used to think that New York was only black and white, but every other place had colors because i was watching a movie one time about New York and it was only in black and white so I thought that it was really oonly black and white.....
When I was in kindergarten the first Gulf War was going on. All I really remember is hearing about "some war" and knowing that at one point my father was in the military.
Well, hear comes show-and-tell one day and I forgot to get something so I do what any normal kid would do: make something up (I also did this in second grade and told everyone I had read the entire encyclopedia -- my parents had just bought a new encyclopedia set).
So I told everyone how my dad was in "the war" and how he would come home every night "rugged and tired," because you can come home every night from Iraq! Mteacher was very concerned for me and called my mom to express how deeply she felt that "that little girl's daddy is at war". Needless to say I wasn't allowed to have any play dates for quite some time!
I used to think that everything, as in all the people and the world and everything - was in black and white. According to me at 5 years old, there was no color 'in the good old days'. Those black and white photos and television programs of the olden days can be very misleading for a little kiddy. XD

I thought nothing interesting happened between the death of Jesus and discovery of America 1500 years later
Until I was maybe 12, I thought that the world used to exist "in black and white" like old movies / photos. When I was ~6 or so, I asked a friend's mom about my theory and she actually told me my theory was right.
Becauses most of the older TV shows and movies were in Black and White I thought that color didn't exist until about 1950.
Up to a few days ago...i never thought submarines were real! i thought they were just made up for war films and things like! That waas untill i was at school and there was a documentary on in science and a submarine came out of the water!
