When I was growing up as a kid (I'm 44 now), I always believed that we were fighting apes in Vietnam. It sounds stupid now, but at the age of six, I was always amazed that an enemy had figured out how to train "guerillas" to fight humans. According to Walter Cronkite, they were doing a pretty good job, too. My folks always wondered why I was never in any hurry to go to the zoo. If they could train apes, could the lions be far behind?

I had a friend who was looking through some old photos from the 40's and 50's with her mom. in a very profound sort of way she said, "Mom, what was it like when color came into the world?! It must have been amazing!" (she was about 12 at the time) Up until that time she had apparently been convinced that old photos and tv shows were in black and white because the entire world looked that way.

when my brother was little, he used to belive that, because all old movies are in black and white, everything was black and white in "the olden days", he would always ask my mum what it was like to be in black and white.

As a kid growing up in a small village in the UK I was convinced that war could break out at any time. I also thought that when there was a war my house could be bombed at any minute, so I planned my exit thoroughly. I realised that I would be able to hear the bombs falling by the sound, like the sound you hear on cartoons when something is falling from a high distance. Therefore I thought I would have time to grab my things, and my parents, and run out of the house and up a small hill so I was far enough away from the house. I didnt think about the fact that this would take at least 5 minutes!

I used to believe that in the olden days, people saw everything in black and white not just the t.v and also that each genaration it soped from colourful back to black and white!

When I was about 6 there was a war in my country and I asked my mom how long it was going on. She said 4 years. I don't know why but untill I was about 12 I believed that every war lasted 4 yrs.So when we were learning about wars in our History class and the teacher said that a war lasted for 100 yrs i thought that she was completely off the track

When I was little I had heard that the Roman Emperor Nero fiddled while Rome was burning. So I thought that he litterarally just sat around playing his fiddle while Rome was destroyed.

I think it's because of several cartoons that portrayed Nero as a fiddler that I developed this belief.

When I was a kid, all the old movies were in black and white, so I used to think the whole world had no color in the past.

I used to think that the people I saw in black and white movies/tv shows could only see in black and white, and not in color!

As a child, whenever I heard someone speak of Wyatt Earp, I thought they were saying "Wide Earp". So I thought this Earp guy must have been at least rather fat, and that was why he was called "Wide".

When I was a kid, another kid told me that the U.S. Civil War was fought over the question of whether "hell" and "damn" should be considered "dirty words". I believed that for what must have been several years.

After i played Wolfenstein 3d, the world's first 1st-Person shooter, i began to think that back during World War Two, Adolf Hitler would command his armies in a big robot suit, and when he commited suicide, he self-destructed in the suit, killing his girlfriend in the process.

Ok, I was a kid ... I used to believe before, all the world before 1960 was in black and white ... that was the colors I saw on photos and black and white movies... I thought that people during World War 1 would see all in black and white ... their clothes were black and white ... (I still have the same feeling today at times ...)
Fun thing is that I thought even before (prehistory...) all was in colors ... due to hollywood movies ... but 1850-1960 all was in black and white .. go fig ...
