I used to think that the world used to be in black and white because of old tv shows. When I asked my Grandfather when we became color he said "Ohh.. About 15 years ago." Which didnt help the situation.

When I was little, I looked at my mom's old black and white photographs and also saw black and white TV shows from the past and used to think actual people used to see the world in black and white, until they invented color television and color photographs and started magically seeing in colour. When I was litle, my aunt used to pull me around in a wagon and say "hail Cleopatra!". When I was in Kindergarden this one kid's mom dressed as leopatra and our teacher said "Look everyone it's Cleopatra". Not knowing who she was but being familier with her name from the "Hail Cleopatra" thing, I assumed she was a one-name celebrity like Madonna. I felt Honored that such a big celecrity would visit MY kindergarden class.
Somehow I made a connection between Jesus and the World Wars, thinking my grandfather who had been a naval officer during WW2 had played some part in rescuing Christ from murder/execution by taking him away on his boat. It was of course all exaggerated by my 'vivid' imagination as my reception teacher clarified for me gently after I bragged to the class about what my grandad had done. Well that was my distorted idea of heroism!
I used to believe…
that the Tamil Tigers fighting for independence in Sri Lanka with guns and bombs were actually very aggressive but nonetheless furry four-legged orange and black striped tigers.
Ditto on the world being black & white before I was born. LOL
When I was young I believed that gorillas fought in wars overseas. I used to watch news reports closely but never managed to actually catch sight of the gorillas the reporters were talking about. It was really upsetting when I realised they meant 'guerrillas' and Planet of the Apes wasn't based on a real place.
When i was little, i used to think that everything in the past was black and white.
