Asterix was one of my favorite comics. One historical character there is Julius Caesar, however as I didn't not know how to pronouce his name then (was still a kid), I thought his name was Julius Casper, as that was the closest name I knew that started with 'C'. Was probably in high school until I discovered otherwise.

I used to love studying the Civil War ( I still do ) since I was in 1st grade. Well, I told my friend about it. We both were in 2nd grade. Well, I told him that to win a battle, you had to take the enemies' flag, as they took the enemies' colors in the Civil War. Whenever we played war, we always "took the enemies' flag". I guess that's how capture the flag came to be.

During the Civil War, a group of artillery was called a battery. I read about this while looking in my sister's history book. She was in 5th grade, I was in 1st. Well, I belived that you could blow someone up if you threw a battery at someone hard enough.

I used to believe that there were no dinosaur bones in America because I didn't think America existed until Columbus discovered it in 1492, and I knew dinosaurs died out millions of years ago. I didn't know how long ago that was, but I knew it was before 1492.

After watching many news items about guerilla warfare and guerilla troops I believed that the jungles of Africa were full of heavily armed primates. I was shockingly old when I realised that this wasn't the case

My brother used to think that when movies were black and white, people were actually black and white and only wore black and white clothing.

I once read a book about a young woman growing up in the Victorian era, and at one point she talked about having to sew darts into her bodice. I figured that was how women defended themselves back then, by keeping sharp objects known as "darts" hidden in their bodices.

my logic told me that, being a bad thing, any war was forbidden and therefore practically impossible. when i learned that there are many wars going on in this world all the time, i didn't understand why noone came to arrest those responsible.

When I was young it was during the Korean War. The news would speak of Gorilla warfare. Everytime the news showed clips of the war and spoke of the Gorillas I would be scared to death. I thought the Gorillas were animals that were going to attack us.

once i heard the term gorilla on the news and thought that real gorillas were fighting kinda like planet of the apes

I used to believe that there had been eleven world wars, however I was confused why there weren't many movies and stories about 2, 3, 4 etc

I assumed that they hadn't been very good wars.

(Pick the child of the seventies watching all the bad 60's TV shows - Desert Rats, Combat, Baa Baa Black Sheep etc etc)

I used to be told, whilst watching TV, that before 1960, or whenever, there was no colour. I used to think that before 1960, ther was no colour at all. Trees were grey. Water was grey. People were black or white or grey.

My younger brother asked me once who won the first world war. I obviously had a sense of fairness because I concluded that because we had won the second world war that Germany must have won the first one.

I kept hearing about roving bands of Guerillas in the Central American jungles carrying guns and killing people. I confused this with animal Gorillas so I was terrified of these animals at the zoo for a long time and would ask zoo keepers if they took their guns away before they were captured

My girlfriend used to believe that everthing used to really be black and white like in the old TV shows.

When I was young I used to believe that the world used to be balck and white because of the old films I saw! I went up to my mum one day and asked her how the world was coloured in. She loves to remind me of this story, even though I'm 22 year old now.
