In "The Wizard of Oz", when the movie changes from black and white to color, I used to believe that color film had been invented right then, while they were filming the movie. Of course, at the end when it changes to black and white again, it was because they only had so much to go around and the people filming Thw Wizard ran out, so they went back to black and white film.
When I was little , I remember watching black n white tv shows like The Honeymooners and Three Stooges... This then lead to my belief that old people can only see in black and white, while kids my age can see in color because were we born in the present times with color tv and cameras..
I used to think that a few years after the television was invented that the world changed from everything being in black and white to everything being in color.

i used to think that wars began with a bunch of guys lining up for two teams and that each side would chose one at a time, like sports, and that brothers would kill each other if chosen by opposite sides. also every one would only attack when news cameras were there.
I used to believe that when guerillas were mentioned on the news they were talking about real gorillas - with guns and everything!
I used to believe that wars were spectator events, held in front of audiences sitting in bleachers. When it was time for someone to die, they'd randomly choose a seat number and then you'd walk out to the field and be shot or decapitated or something. Weird.
I was about 9 when the Gulf War started. I remember thinking that it was a really stupid war because I believed that it had been started after a leader of a country (can't remember if I thought it was USA or Iraq or UK) had lost a game of golf with the other leaders!! I still think war is stupid though......
I used to believe that in the "olden days" (when grandma was a little girl) that the world was black and white (my only source being old movies.) Once I asked grandma when everything went color.

i saw photos in black and white and i thought the world used to be in black and white.
to this day i have a hard time translating black and white images into color in my head.
I had my little brother convinced that color was only invented in the last century, before that the world was in black and white. I referred to old movies and photos as the proof. He believed it almost untill his teens.

Polish war memorial ,I thought it was an instruction.as in to polish
I used to believe that before color TV and movies, nobody could see but black & white in the world, no color. I'd watch a 'Get Smart' rerun and think, 'Gosh I'd like to have lived back then to see what life was like in black & white.'

I thought that old movies were black and white because the world was black and white then.
