When I was little my grandpa and I would watch a lot of black and white horror movies ( which I didn't find too scary compared to say, Aliens) and I never understood why old movies where in Black & White. So I asked my grandpa if it was weird living back then when there was no color.

It didn't occure to me that it was just the film, and not everything was black and white a long time ago! After all, all the photos and movies weren't in color.

My dad watched a lot of re-runs when I was growing up. Andy Griffeth, Ozzy and Harriet, Beaver and stuff like that. So I believed that when my dad was young and pretty much before I was born that the world was black and white. Color was "invented" around the time I came into conciousness.

When I was little I watched a lot of TV with my grandma. So I asked her once, "Was the world black and white when you were a kid?"

After seeing old black and white photos of the family, I used to think that the world used to be in black and white. I accepted this as fact and went on my merry way for several years. I only found out that the world was always in colour when I asked my mom what year the colour came! She was so confused.

I was looking at old black and white pictures of when my mom was little. Then once she was in middle school the pictures were all in color. I asked her when color was invented, she said somewere in the 1950's. Later I asked whose Idea it was to make trees green, and the sky blue and things like that, and she just said that God did that when the Earth was formed. I reminded her that she said color wasnt invented until 1950 and she laughed and explained to me that everything was colorful, but color film wasnt invented until the 1950's.

I used to believe that in the days of black and white films, LIFE itself was actually in black and white... and that color movies didn't come around until life evolved enough to produce color!

when my brother was little, he used to belive that, because all old movies are in black and white, everything was black and white in "the olden days", he would always ask my mum what it was like to be in black and white.

I still have a hard time imagining a historical event in color. When I think about world war 2 or earlier, I always picture it im my head in black and white even though I know better

I remembered as a kid lookin' at old photos of my dad and then seeing a video when he was about 7. Bearing in mind the films were in black and white i was fascinated. I used to think in the old days everything was in black and white, not just on film but actually in REAL LIFE..like the sky was grey.

When I was a small child, I thought that the world used to be in black and white and someone invented color before I was born. I asked my mother "When did you get color?" as we were looking through old pictures and it took a minute for her to understand what I was talking about. She has yet to let me forget about this.

I used to think that, back in the 40s or whenever (before they had color TVs) that everything was in black and white - people, everything. Then I thought that everything just turned to color one day. Weird, huh?

Having seen old black and white movies I used to think that the entire world used to be in black and white, like the universe went through a fundamental shift and color magically appeared. It wasn't until later that I realized they were just old cameras

When I was younger I thought that black and white movies were really what people looked like in the past, and we had just evolved to color.

I used to believe: that when TV was black and white, it was because the world was black and white. so when TV went colour, I assumed it was because the world had switched too.
