When I was young and looked at a map, I thought that the colors of the countries on the map were the colors of the people who lived there.

I truly did believe that I could dig to China. My friends and I spent an entire day trying to get there. Unfortunately, once we hit the bottom of their sandbox, we had to start all over out in the yard.
We got about 2 feet down with the shovels before we gave up.

My dad told me that playing basketball makes you taller. Basketball players are tall, so I believed him.

I used to believe that as long as my parents had a checkbook and/or credit card they had money. What's funny is now my kids believe that also.

When I was little, I believed that "ami" was a relative similar to a grandmother and when someone said "Miami", they were taking about their "ami".

When I was little I used to believe that the people in places south of the equator had to wear special shoes so they wouldn't fall off the face of the earth. And that people in Australia had the technology to jump up in the air, which was really falling or so I thought, and not fall off into space.

I used to beileve that all men with brown hair and glasses were from england, and were freaks. I also used to believe that they probably were plotting to kill me.

When I was very little, I couldn't understand how people living on the bottom of our round earth could stand. I thought if you went down there you would just drop head first into outer space.

I am Chinese but I moved to a foreign 3rd world country(even more 3rd world than china) with very limited information resources at early age, I went to school with a japanese and a korean. And the only information I got was from reading dictionaries and the pictures on it and I read about 2nd world war and japanese carriers and since I grew up in the 80s jap products have become very popular there and i thought they were ruling the world and since they attacked china i thought they were better, but later i read on magazine that china had largest army in the world and I couldn't believe it since I only kno china thru chinese kung fu movies which showed very backward people, and this jap used to tease me and look down on me, But I now know better that china has developped nuclear weapons and space programs to kill all japs if we wanted...what a relieve japs are not ruling the world whew

When I was growing up I used to hear my mother talk about her Salary and how much she got. I thought that at the end of the week she just got a bunch of celery to bring home.

In the city where my grandmother lives, there is a tall building near the highway. Everytime we drove passed by it I thought it was the state of Texas (where my Aunt lived at the time) because it was called Donahue and my aunt went the Phil Donahue show, which was located in Texas. Wild, huh?

I used to not know the difference between "city" and "building." So when Mom and Dad said the city we lived in was San Jose, I pictured us all living in this giant skyscraper (really big, like city blocks wide and totally hollow)... I assumed that that was where we would go if there was some sort of big emergency... like a natural disaster or something. I had scary dreams about all of us having to leave our house and go live in San Jose (the giant skyscraper)

I used to believe that igloos never really existed, & that they were just silly made-up things used in cartoons. I guess the idea of living in a house made of ice was too unbelievable for me to handle...?

I thought that "Gun Point" was a place, like a camping destination or something. I couldn't understand why people kept going there if bad things kept happening at Gun Point...

I used to think that all banks led to a giant 'super-bank' through underground tunnels and everyone had a little lead box there with their name on it and all their money inside. I therefore assumed that putting money in the stock market meant taking your box to a market, presumanbly in Camden Town, and hiding it there.
And of course, money gets teleported from the super-bank to cash machines, otherwise how would it be your money?
