Up until the age of 6, I thought that Los angeles was the contient of north America and i thought California was the exact city I lived in.

My husband told me that when he was 2-3, and he was living with his grandmother in this small town in Arkansas, he used to read the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and he really believed that all white people lived in New York, because he never saw any white people where he lived.

I used to have no idea where we went when we flew to california. Since we flew upwards, I thought it was reasonable that california and other places were on other levels of the earth. Whenever i looked up I would wave because I thought that maybe if my cousins or grandparents were looking down then myabe they could see us. I also wondered how you could get to places that were on levels below you. I was therefore very surprised to find out that you could actually go in a car to california.

My mom used to believe that the San Francisco Giants baseball team were actual giants.

When I was a very young child, living in Long Beach, CA, I believed Santa Ana winds came from the city of Santa Ana (in the next county to the South). Why else would the winds be named that?

I used to believe that there was only one cheerleader on a cheerleading team, because there was only one leader. So I was very impressed when a lot of my friends told me they were cheerleaders. I just supposed the other people on the team were cheerers.

When I was little I believed there was like a community of leprechaun like people small enough to fit in an ATM literally LIVING in the machine and who's main purpose in life was to hand grown ups the money. Of course I also believed that the ATM machine was an endless supply of money for my Momma!

I used to tell people my grandfather played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 70's because the den in his house had a bunch of Steeler posters and pennants. Turned out he was just a big fan.

I read in the Pippi Longstocking books that people in China walked on their hands all the time, and I believed that for years.

When I was young I used to believe that grocery store cashiers could give you free money. I reasoned this because I had seen the cashier give my mom "free money" numerous times. One time I wanted a toy at the store and my mom said I couldn't have it because she didn't have any money to buy it with. I told her to just go get money from the cashiers. She then explained to me the concept of change.

I used to believe that we all lived inside the Earth and not on the surface... for whatever reason.

I used to believe that insurance was an extremely unfortunate group of people who had to pay when bad things happened to you and do all the paperwork and that you were assigned 3 or 4 people to do so. I was also afraid of getting picked to be one.

For whatever reason, I used the think that the Washington Monument was called the "Money Building..." Money, Monument, same thing, right? Well I used to think that was where all the money was made and was so confused about how so much money could come out of a building so thin!

I used to believe that Australia was a series of concentric circles, with prairie in the middle where kangaroos lived, then a band of jungle for all the creepy crawlies and snakes. There was then a ten feet high brick wall to seperate it from the road, and on the other side of the road were the houses.

I thought the ATM printed that nice, crisp, clean money and spit it out for you. That's why it all looked so new.
