To me, football (or actually, futbol) has always meant what is called soccer in the United States. When I first saw American Football at a fairly young age, I thought that players in that sport had gigantic muscles, though it turned out to be their shoulder pads.

I am Canadian and when I was little I would sing "True Pastry Love" instead of 'True Patriot Love"
As a child, I use to think that when people made money, they literally made money. The rich people were just much better at it than the poor people. Being ambitious and possessing an entrepreneurial spirit, I started to practice making my own money. I still can’t imagine what my parents were thinking when I proudly announced my own counterfeiting operation. I think even the Secret Service would have found it funny to see a six year old making his own dollars with construction paper and crayons.
When I was in 6th grade, I believed that in baseball, if you hit a home run, you'd get 7 points instead of 1, because running all the bases counted more than just running from 3rd to home. I envisioned as similar to a touchdown, which I also believed at the time was 7, not 6 points.
There is this highway called Canada Highway. And When i was younger i used to believe that that highway travelled all the way from one side of Canada to the other. So it wasnt untill i was about 14 and my Grandparents were taking me down that highway when i asked "are we going to Nova Scotia?" And then looked at me and laughed their heads off.
When I was a kid, I thought that all the Americans are born to kill others (bad hlywood movies !) , one day in a hotel a 4 or ^ years old American boy asked us whether he could play footbal with us, we searched him but there were no guns with him so we let him ... but! one min. later his sister came with a pistol toy !!! we all fleed !
I'm not sure why, but once, in kindergarten, a boy told me about a horrible place called "Pencilvania" . Never looking at a map of the U.S and reading the states' names, I thought Pecilvania was in Europe. Then, he told me that I was taking a vacation there, and that I would die. ( Huh? ) I got really upset because I thought my family would be attacked by flying, orange pencils.
When I found out that Alaska was part of the US, I was a little freaked out. I thought that it was part of the continental US, so like, there was this frozen ice area in the middle of warm climate of the rest of the states. I thought it was some sort of strange phenomenon.

My brother used to think that "hump" meant "wrestle". I can't imagine what he said to his opponents in wrestling matches at school.
This happened to my little sister, but it's still hilarious.
When she was in third grade everyone in the class was sharing their genealogy. Kids around the room were saying, "I'm English", "I'm Irish", "I'm Danish". My sister raised her hand and shouted out to the class, "I'm Germish!".
I was told it took a long time for the laughing to die down.
I used to think that all commonly names street connected everywhere in the country. For example, if you walked or drove long enough on Elm Drive in Chicago, you would eventually hit Elm Drive in Miami. Never mind the fact that it is physically impossible ...

I used to beleive Euthanasia was a country. It does sound like one don't you think?
My friend read this book about a girl who had saved up her coins as a child and later on she turned into a millionaire...................well we were convinced abt it & tried the same (no success)

I used to believe that there was a tree in every house hidden somewhere that grew BANK NOTES and every time we needed money ,dad just had to pick it up in his secret location!
I thought when television said Miami I thought they were actually talking about a close relative of mine (possibly because it sounds like auntie)
