I used to believe that George Washington was trying to talk to me whenever I got water up my nose during a bath. To this day, I have no idea why.
when i was little, my mom and i would go shopping and before we left she'd sometimes casually say that she didn't have any money, therefor i thought she meant our family had no money period, even though she just didnt have any cash.
when i was in kindergarten, we used to have this racial appreciation thing where every week we would celebrate and learn about a new race/culture through each other. so it was going to be my turn soon to share my race and culture, and i asked my dad what i was. he said i was scottish cuz he's weird. but really, i'm 100% chinese. yeah so i told my class that i was chinese...but scottish at the same time. so for the longest time (i think up until 4th grade), i believed i was scottish somehow.
i just talked to my brother, and my brother said that he believed he was part hawaiian for a while too. man. my dad sucks.
Until I was about 10 I beieved that people could actually dig to China, and I told my friend that if we dug in the sandbox far enough, we could get to China. Then he told me that if we dug to China, the chinese dug to here. But if we dug too far and took a wrong
turn underground, we would get to hell!
So everyday, if I saw an Asian man outside, i would compliment him about his digging skills, but if I saw a construction worker digging, or even someone in the sandbox, I would scream at the top of my lungs and cry and tell them to stop.I was to horrified to dig for the next 6 years! Then i found out that you cant dig to hell. you just burn in flaming hot magma burning your skin in a terrible abyss of pain and fire while screaming in terror while burning into an oblivion!!!What a relief...
I used to think that the state of Texas was New York and that the Statue of Liberty was right smack in the middle of the state.
I desperatly wanted to bungee jump as a kid. I never thought that you would need a special rope, so decided my dressing-gown cord would be just as good. I tied it round my bed and jumped. And fell. That taught me!
As a child, I used to think that there was a little man that lived in the ATM and handed (free) money out if you put your card in.
Once my mother corrected me as to this belief, I decided that there were hundreds of little tiny boxes in the ATM that stored all the different account's cash. You told the ATM which box to draw from, and then it pulled out money from only your box.

I used to believe that the numbers athletes wore on their uniforms were their ages.
My mom was BIG into coupons when I was a kid. One time we went to the grocery store and she asked me what kind of cereal I wanted. When I told her, she said we didn't have a coupon for that kind. I guess I must have looked really disappointed, because she let me get it anyway. I was so shocked; I didn't think you were allowed to buy cereal without a coupon.
I remember I didn't understand the difference between $1, $10, $20, etc. We would go to the store and my mom would pay with one bill. I thought that meant that you could buy all you wanted for just one dollar. Sometimes we bought lots, but sometimes we would buy just a couple of things, and I used to get upset that we were wasting our dollars when we could have got so much more.
When I was little, I used to believe that if I shredded up dollar bills, that I would have more money. After all, there were tons of dollar bill laying around, so didn't that mean I had more bills? WRONG!!
I used to believe that The Mall Of America was in Canada.
When I was a kid they always had commercials for vacations to Jamaica where all the happy island people were singing and playing guitar. I didn't know there was more than one Jamaica so when we took the train to Jamaica, Queens I was really surprised.

I used to think that everyone in the country got a turn at being President. I was scared because I didn't want that kind of responsibility or public attention.
I loved playing basketball as a kid, and went to lots of camps. They would tell us that probably none of us would ever play in the NBA. In my mind, I always thought I was the one exception in the group. Nope... never made it.
When I was growing up San Francisco was the only city I had ever seen so I thought that all cities had hills. I was sure that in order to be a city it would have to have hills - boy was Los Angeles a surprise for me!
I saw my mom write a check at a store and asked her what it was. She said that you write the amount on the check and it works the same as money. From that day, I decided that I would always use checks and then I would always have money! I could just write a check!
