My friend announced one day that she was moving to Miami Beach. I was quite upset and told everyone about her big move to "HERami". I wasn't sure what an Ami was, but she had one and was moving there.

I used to believe that when my parents would use credit cards to pay for things that it was free money. I used to get mad at them for telling me that they didn't have any money when i wanted things. I just thought they could put it on the credit card.

when i was younger i thought the Cleveland cavaliers were just called caves and i thought it was caves as in baby cows. i was really confused why you'd name a team after baby cows and the old colors were blue and orange and i wanted to know how you got blue and orange from baby cows.

I used to believe that golf holes were infinitely deep, and that when a player hit ball into one, it fell forever into some faraware abyss, never to be retrieved again.

While growing up in the late 70s and 80s, my father always referred to Communists as "Communist Bastards". He never said the first word without the other. So, in elementary school when we were talking about world history one day, I remember raising my hand and answering, "Because the Communist Bastards ..." It was pretty embarrassing.

I used to believe that "South America" was referring to the southern US states. Once, in class, we were asked to name some countries in South America. I raised my hand and said "That's easy! There's Florida, Georgia, Texas..."
I was mortified when the teacher corrected me.

I was always stumped with this when I was younger: I knew that Chinese people ate with chopsticks and that American people ate with forks, and I remember thinking that if Americans used those miniature forks to feed their babies what did Chinese mothers use? Toothpicks? Twigs?
Some of you might have heard this elsewhere as a joke, but I assure you that I really thought it. ;)

When i was little i used to believe that only Americans could change their accents to match other peoples', like Australians or English for instance. I thought they were "stuck" with their accents for life or something, but Americans had this ability to talk differently. My good friend, who's from England, began talking with an American accent after being teased about hers, and i was shocked!

One day while watching a Denver Broncos football game with my step mom (who is a huge Broncos fan) she finally erupted at the announcers who she thought was calling their punter by his last name -Aknor. She yelled at the TV, "it's not "A" knor it's just Knor. I explained to her that his first name is Micah (Mike a). Hence Micah Knor.

I was about nine and I use to think that every time the batter fouled one back that the umpire caught the fouled ball because he would always give the ball back to the catcher to throw back to the pitcher. It wasn't until I actually went to a baseball game did I notice that the fouled ball went back into the stands and the umpire pulled a new ball from his bag. I just remembered thinking "those umpires have some fast hands."

My parents are from China, but my sister and I were born in the United States. Whenever my parents talked about wanting to take us to China for vacation, I'd be TERRIFIED because I had heard about their one child policy (to reduce the population growth rate), and I thought they would kill me for being the younger daughter!

I used to think of all prices in terms of age. So, $100 for, say, a house was VERY expensive, because if someone were 100 years old, he/she would be VERY old! If my parents wouldn't buy me some small trinket because it was too expensive, I'd argue, "but it's only $5!" thinking that a 5-year-old is pretty young!

When I was a kid my best friend told me that if you open up a golf ball, it would explode. So I didnt go near them until I was a teenager, I was scared to death of them.
