I used to believe that Democrats were some sort of demon-cat hybrid. My dad is a Republican and was always talking about these evil "Democrat" creatures. I knew that the president (Bill Clinton at the time) was a Democrat, and so i figured he was their leader. I wondered why people would ever vote for such bad, man-eating demon-cats. I was mystified for ages, and finally, in about 6th grade, i realized that they were humans, and maybe not so evil.

I thought Oklahoma was a place in Japan (due to it weird name :P), and Japan gave it to USA later.

When I was young, shredded wheat was made in Niagara Falls and the package had a picture of shredded wheat going over Niagara Falls. When I saw Niagara Falls for the first time at eight years old,I wondered where the shredded wheat was!

I used to always forget the word 'vagina' and thought it was 'china' instead. I always wondered why they named a country after my 'special place'. also the country 'chad' confused me, as i knew a kid named chad. oh, and who wasn't confused by 'chile'?

My mother had told my sister and me (She was seven, I was five) that we were going on vacation to "My ami". This led me to believe that my mother owned the entire city, and I became angry at anyone but my mom who tried to call it "theirs".

You know those machines at arcades that you put dollar bills in, in exchange for quarters to play the video games? When I was little, I used to think that there was something in the machine that would take the bill and somehow turn it into quarters. It made sense for dollar bills, because I could see how you could get four quarters out of a single dollar bill, but I didn't understand how you could put in a five dollar bill and twenty quarters could come out; there wasn't enough paper, after all.

I used to believe that my bank account as a child was an actual slot at the bank where the money I put in, actually went into a box or something at the bank...I was feeling very RIPPED off when I was about 8 years old and I went to get money out and they gave me ONE bill istead of all that change that I had been taking in for all those years...

Until I was almost 18 I believed that Hungarians were black. My logic, they were hungry, therefore it was a third world country where people ate nothing but twigs, 3rd world countries are full of black people.

I use to beleive that the silly midd on position in cricket was actually a name of player, I'd imagined him being a very poor fielder who dropped a lot of catches because his mind was of cricket an on other things instead causing him to be nick named "silly midd of".

I used to think that if i looked through small cracks in the ground, I could see my aunt Martha in Australia hanging up the her bra on the washing line. Odd, but true.

I was born during the Watergate hearings and grew up hearing how responsible Nixon was for the Vietnam Conflict. So, I used to believe that Nixon was the boogey man hiding underneath my bed and that Vietnam was a monster that took children away from their parents.

As a kid, I never understood the concept of "change" at supermarkets. I was always delighted that you could hand a piece of green paper to the cashiers, then get many pieces of green paper and pretty coins in return. I thought that my parents should be rich after going to the supermarket enough times. I never understood how my parents could have financial problems.

When I was young I used to believe that magicians would be perfect NFL football players because they could easily let the ball disappear and show it back up when they wanted it.
I would tell this theory to friends and parents when there was either football or magic on TV.
I had this theory from when I was 4 till when I was 6.
Then I saw a quarterback -Steve deBerg- do some play action plays and I shouted "they've listened! they've listened!"
He could just let the ball disappear in the hands of a running back and pop it back up to throw it, he got everybody fooled.
From then on, up to this day, I never abandon a theory I truly believe in.

When the B.Clinton-miss L. thing happend i thought that that was the reason why it was called the "white house"

Okay when my brother was the ripe age of 13 yes that's right 13 he believed that if you went to an ATM to get money a UPS truck would have to come in order to give it to you....yeah he's not the brightest kid in the world

When I was very young, probably six or seven, I thought the D.C. in Washington D.C. stood for "Decorated by Columbus".
I imagined Columbus running about ballet style flinging columns and buildings and painting the sky patriotic. Oddly, I never thought it was "Discovered by Columbus", probably because that wouldn't lead to such entertaining images. ;)

I believed that the men jumping over hurdles in slow motion on TV must have practiced very hard to run so slowly. I practiced too but never got very good at it!
