I used to believe that snow skiers jumped off the ski lift while it was still high in the air. I believed this until I learned to ski and realized that the ski lift ends at the top of the mountain where you just stand up on the ground to get off the chair.

I used to believe that if cities had streets with the same names, those were continuous roadways, so if we we kept driving on Oak Street, we would eventually end up on Oak Street in the next town.
I'm from canada, where we drive on the ight side of the road. One summer, we went to England, and I noticed (being an observant 6 year old) that they drove on the LEFT side of the road. This led me to believe that everything in england was the opposite of Canada I spent the rest of the summer looking for a neighboorhood with the opposite of our house in it, because I was convinced I'd meet the opposite of me there. I didn't realise my mistake until I was 9.
I used to think a penny was a lot of money. Thanks Mom
My Dad once told me that if all the people in china jumped at the same time we would feel it as they landed. I used to imagine it happening and then getting all the people in Europe to jump and respond. One day I hope to organise this.
When I was a kid, I always though (correctly) that I lived in America. One day I saw a commercial for something that was being held in "The U.S.A." I always thought USA sounded cool and always wanted to live there. Then, in the first grade, I found out I always did.
I used to believe that if I set up a bank account and paid in money, they would keep the money in a sort of locker and give it me back on request, not realising the money you pay in basically turns into a number on a piece of paper.
After watching charity adverts and hearing of all the poor people in the world, I thought up the idea of 'making more money'.
Not to thing this will cause choas and everything will be of zero value...I can dream.
When I was a kid,(about 5 or 6), my mother was driving somewhere and she told me,"Look, there's an Indian man walking down the street." I looked, expecting to see a Native American chief complete with feathered headdress and war paint, like I'd seen in movies. When I saw an ordinary-looking man with a dot on his forehead, I said "That's not an Indian!" My mother had to explain the difference between people from India and Native Americans.
I thought that the 'Patriot Act' was something to do with patriotism about America

When I was young I loved game shows. When they would announce that something or someone had been picked "at random" I thought random was an actual place.

I used to think that the South African city, Cape town was actually called Crap Town. I though that this was a bit insulting for the people living there ^_^

In the NBA basketball, when the team needed to take time-outs, I thought they did something wrong and they have to be grounded.
When the State quarters were introduced back in 1999, I thought that the 50 State quarters was used only in a same State (i.e. if a quarter reads "New York" it could be used only in the state of New York or a quarter which reads "Massachusetts" could be only used in the State of Massachusetts.)
