i used to believe that great britain was the whole world
I used to think that there were no stores in Kentucky.
I don't know what category this goes in, so I'll put it here. I used to believe that the earth was flat and no matter how my parents tried to convince me I always held firm in my belief that the earth was flat. Whay, I sure didn't see any curves? Not only that, but why aren't people in China falling off since they are supposedly "down" from us? Or people in Antarctica, they aren't down or up from us but on the globe they are down. So why don't they fall off? Eventually Dad convinced me because he is a Physics teacher and knows all about that kind of thing... hahaha. Boy, was I stupid...
I used to always forget the word 'vagina' and thought it was 'china' instead. I always wondered why they named a country after my 'special place'. also the country 'chad' confused me, as i knew a kid named chad. oh, and who wasn't confused by 'chile'?
my aunt from germany came to our state (ohio) and we went to a museum with her which was only about 1 hour away and I thought she took us to germaNY CUZ THE STREet signs were blue!!! (instead of green)
so i was olways saying ''can you take us to germany again!?'' XD
umtil i was 14 and in the 9th grade i thought Russia and Germany were the same country!!!!!
I would visit Ohio a lot to see my aunt, so I believed that everywhere I went outside of my town was Ohio.
we lived in cincinnati, ohio when i was a child and quite often drove into kentucky to get places. i was shamefully old before i realized that ky was actually another state b/c naturally i thought you had to go a long way to get to another state.
I used to think that Hawaii and Alaska were floating around where Mexico is because thats what is on all the maps.
i also used 2 think that on maps of the world etc if i sqinted really, really hard i could see my street, my house-everything!
so i tried it one day. i was bitterly dissapointed when i cuoldent see my house.
i decided i needed glasses so i pinched my sisters
:(
When I was little, I thought that Mississippi was a real person. Ithought she was called Ms. Issippi and she was the queen of her country. I thought that she had to go to war with Norway and I called it The Battle of Mississippi. I thought that Norway was a desert like Arizona and that there were big floaty monsters in the caves. You don't want to know the dreams I had on the topic.
When I was about 6 I thought that Sonoma was the last city. That you could go to other cities through one direction, but if you tried to go the other direction, you would walk off of the end of the earth.
I used to beleive that if i dig a hole in the ground i would get to Oz..... i still beleive that is kind of true.
Growing up I had a hard time with the state of Arkansas. I always heard people say the state of Arkansas and I always read about the place "Ar..Kansas" (the second part sounding like the state of Kansas). So I thought there were two different states...the state of Arkansas and the state of "Ar....Kansas". Geez...this one actually threw me off until I was in my late teens (i'm not american so it took me awhile to get that straighten out ).
When I was around three, I was looking at a globe of the earth. My mother told me that there were people on it. I kept imagining all the tiny little people so small that I couldn't see them, spinning or blowing around as I turned the globe. LOL I held onto this for a while.
When i was five, I usesd to think there were juste two countries in the world France and Engalnd
I used to belive that the U.S.A was they only place on earth, once I learned about countrys and things, I thought every country was a different world!
When my parents took my brother and me to St. Louis, I thought people there spoke a different language.
(I grew up in Indiana.)
I was taught in second grade that the earth was flat at the poles. Second grade to Fifth grade i believed that we lived near the poles, because i couldn't see the ground curving.
I live in Michigan, and I was convinced for the longest time that New Jersey (where my grandparents lived) was a different country. I mean, Canada is a different country and New Jersey was waaaay more different from Michigan than Toronto is.
