I used to believe that George W. Bush's middle name was Washington, and that he and the first president were somehow one and the same.

I thought the presidential race was an actual running race to the White House, and whichever candidate got there first was elected president.
If you lost a Presidential election, you had to leave the country. This came from me mishearing the words "lead the country" from a TV ad talking about the election that was going on back then.
I used to think Obama's name was short for Baraccobama.

and which lead me up till 6th grade that Nazis were russian
I thought every single organisation had a government observer and the entire nation was working for some sort of plan that all the adults were hiding from us.
I used to seriously misunderstand the concept of voting. I assumed whoever voted for one option would get it and whoever voted for the other option would get the other, instead of the option with more votes affecting everyone.

Back in the mid 90's, when I was about 10, I used to believe that I was a prisoner in a digital world. I used to feel that beyond this reality was a utopia, and that I had broken the laws of that utopia and was imprisoned in a digital reality that was meant to continually punish me until I had learned my lesson, whatever it may be.

The Spanish word for president is "Presidente". I have a Mexican origin. When they told me Vicente Fox was the president of Mexico, I thougt that his name was Fox and that both Presidente and Vicente were titles. I used to boast to my school partners that Fox was Presidente AND Vicente of Mexico xD
When I was little I heard on the TV that poverty had something to do with politics. I knew politics was something the mayor do, and mayors take care of cities.
So I believed that poor people lived in poor towns, and rich people lived in rich towns.

I thought a president has power to do whatever he or she wanted because I didn't know about the constitution or three branches of government. So I was determined to become president and make it a law that everyone had to have a horse.
