I used to believe…

As a child, I knew that people always washed their hands after using the bathroom. However, I thought they just did it periodically, because their hands were getting dirty during the day-- like the way you had to wash your hands before lunch. The only reason they did it after using the bathroom was that they were right next to the basin and it was handy.

So... I never used to wash my hands if I was in the bathroom before breakfast, because I didn't see how they could have got dirty if I'd only been awake a few hours.

I was ill a *lot* as a child.

This actually wasnt too long ago.

The Miami Airport washrooms had gone high tec when they introduced these "hands-free flushable toilets", that I didnt know about at the time....

Turns out that after using the facility all of a sudden it roared! I jumped out of the stall horrified, pointing out to my mom that the toilet had flushed itself. She laughed and said "thats because on the other side of the wall there are these men that watch you and wait for you to finish so they can flush the toilet."

...I'm amazed that for the longest time i actually believed that.

I used to be really scared of going to the toilet and thourght that little purple alians would vaporise me in to goo.

I used to believe that snakes living in the sewage would come into your toilet and bite your backside while you were doing your business. I never spent more than five seconds in the bathroom.

I used to have this irrational fear that a serial killer would crawl through the septic tanks and stab me repeatedly in the butt while I was on the toilet.

I used to believe…

When I was really little I used to think if you had something in your mouth while you were using the toilet that it would get sucked down (with your business) once you flushed the toilet.

hall of fame

I used to think that if you flushed the toilet while sitting on it, you would be sucked down. Where to, I could not say.

I believed basically everything my brother told me. Like, it was cool to stick a gummy bear in your nose. Well, that one failed when my dad had to take tweezers to my little nostril. Anyway, my brother also told me in order to get taller (and i was and am a short asian girl), when you're on the shitter, rest your upper body against your legs. Then push your body against your legs until they begin to shake and when they do, you're growing!

I used to believe…

When i was younger i would beleive if i didnt open the closet door in the bathroom, before i used the toliet that a monster or something would come out and get me! i still open the closet door!

I used to believe…

When i was in first grade a boy told me he used to afraid of robbers coming out of the toliet to get him. Since he old me that i was always scared to go to the bathroom and would do it fast and jump up as soon as i could!

obviously, putting a phone in the toilet would cause the other person to get wet. it was very tempting, but i feared the mother's wrath.

I used to believe…

When i was younger i was once taken in a public toilet, which had a timer on it, and would spray itself down after the user had left and closed the door again. however, ignoring the sign above the door, instead of waiting for the person before me to close the door, I went straigh in, and closed the door myself. Clearly the toilet thought that the last person had just left the cubicle, and so as i sat down on the seat, I was sprayed with toilet cleaner. To this day I refuse to use public toilets, and when I absolutely have to, i make sure i shut the door and then open it again before I go in

the first one totally reminded me of myself. i did think that a monster would come out. so even to this day, especially if the hallway is dark, (or if the flushing sounds like a cougar), i still go out quick.

I used to believe…

When I was in the fourth grade my brother told me there was a monster in the toilet. So, for several months I would take Barbies and leave them on top of the toilet as sacrifices so the toilet monster wouldn't eat me while I was using the restroom. My mom would always follow me afterwards and put the Barbies back in my toybox; so, for a long time I thought the toilet monster was eating my sacrifices.

I used to believe…

for a real long time i thought that as soon as i flushed the toilet you had to get out before it stopped or ese a big monster would come out and get you i dont know why i started doing this, no one told me. even now i hurry out

I used to believe…

my mom told me that when she was little, he brother told her that there was a genie in the toilet and that when you flush the genie would come out and get you. my mom believed him and would never flush. finally, her mom told her that she had to start flushing the toilet. then, to get away from the genie, she would flush the toilet, then run downstairs as fast as she could so the genie wouldn't get her.

I used to believe…

Until I was about 8 or 9, I thought that the "Eau de toilette" on perfume bottles meant that it lasted until the next time you went to the toilet. For this reason, I always went to the loo before spraying any, so that it would last as long as possible.
