I have a friend who says he really believed this:
When he was little, and the USA's South was still very segregated, he used to try to sneak into the "Colored Restroom". His mother would stop him every time, saying, "It's not for us to use."
He was very upset by this. He thought it was a special restroom where all the tiles were bright colors and colored water came out of all the sinks and toilets. He figured because he and his family were Italians, they could only use the restroom where all the tile was white and all the water was clear.
Makes me chuckle to this day. Since then, I've had this thought:
Wouldn't it have been great if he'd sneaked into the "Colored Restroom", and the entirety of all the great African American authors, artists and thinkers had ever been in there having a party and THAT'S why he wasn't invited?
That would've been much cooler.

I still actually do this. In fear of colgging the toilets, I cross my fingers and hold my breath. Hey, It works.
I used to believe…
When I was little I remember seeing something on TV about a snake being in a woman's toilet. Ever since then I used to think that if you took too long to poop, a snake would come out of the hole at the bottom where everything flushes down. I used to periodically look and see if anything was down there before I was done, I'd sometimes leave the bathroom with my heart racing.
It wasn't till I got a little older I realized that it's pretty much impossible for snakes to get through the pipes.
I used to believe there was a witch living in my toilet and if someone went to the bathroom and didn't wipe then she'd wave her wand and they'd get a rash. I was also terrified that one day she'd reach her hand out of the tube and claw my butt.
I used to believe…
When I was little I never got to stay up late, so I didn't know what happened at midnight. I thought it was a magical time when stuffed animals and toys came to life. I also thought monsters came out and all my toys protected me.
I used to believe…
Like a lot of children, I was scared of toilets flushing for some reason. One night I had somehow blocked up the toilet (I don't remember how, maybe I dropped an empty toilet roll in it). Anyway, my Mum was slightly annoyed & sent me on my way to bed while she unblocked it. I was terrified she would get sucked down & die so I went to my room & cried for half an hour.

I used to believe monsters lived in our toilet, among them the aliens from Alien, Chewbacca, and E.T. The only thing that made it okay for me to go to the bathroom was to believge that Glinda the Good Witch lived down there too to protect me.
I used to believe…
One time, at a very early age, I was spending too long in the toilet, and both of my parents were waiting outside to use it. Dad called out, "There is a queue out here." I raced outside, believing that, like on Sesame Street, there was a large letter 'Q' in the sky being waved about.

when I was 4 or 5 my sister told me that when you flush the toilet the gurgling noise was the boogeyman getting mad at you and was gonna eat you if you didnt get out before it stopped flushing he would get you. she ended up scaring herself (and me) and for around a year my parents would see us wash our hands, flush the toilet, and run like hell out of the bathroom
i used to be scared a monster would get me at my weakest,on the toilet.
And i still am...*shudders*...
I used to believe…
When I was little, I used to think that when you flushed the toilet, you were allowing the dead spirits to come after you. (The pets flushed down the toilet.) Every time I flushed, I would run out. And one day I tripped and started crying and screaming. When my grandma came and asked what was wrong, I told her, "The spirits are after me!"
I used to believe…
When I used to go the bathroom I was afraid to poop b/c I though a hand was going grab me and pull me in and when I flushed it I would cover my ears.
I don't know why.
i used to believe that every time i flushed the toilet then something scary would pop out of it if i didnt leave the bathroom in time. so i would flush the toilet and storm out of the bathroom.
I used to think that I would be sucked into the toilet. Mostly a fear of airplane toilets because those type run on suction. I figure ones at home were the same.

When I was little my older brother believed an evil hand lived in the wall behind the toilet. He was convinced that when he was by himself and had to sit on the tolet seat that a tile on the wall would open like a door and the hand would come out and grab his privates. So whenever he had to do #2 he would take my brother and I with him and make us sit in the dark laundry hamper with all the stinky, dirty clothes. As long as he had someone with him the hand would never come out.
