When I was in pre-school, I borrowed a record of Jack and the Beanstalk from our local library. Something on the record must have reminded me of flushing toilets, because for months afterward I was afraid that the ogre would come out of the toilet and get me if I flushed it. Needless to say, my parents got very irritated with the unflushed toilets!
I used to think that every time I used a toilet at a place I was not familiar with (such as a public restroom in a distant city, while traveling, etc.), that some kind of monster was going to come out and grab my parts below, and haul me away through the pipings.

When I was little I thought that when you flush the toilet it would come out of other bathroom pipes if they were turned on. I would never start to brush my teeth until after the toilet stopped making noise. To this day I can't brush my teeth or take a drink of water from the bathroom sink if I have just flushed the toilet.

In the boy's toilets at our primary school, there used to be 5 cubicles, however one of them never opened. For years everyone thought that a pupil had fallen down the toilet and the cubicle had been sealed. None of the teachers knew we thought this. Anyway, one parent's evening (student-teacher conference) someone's father was desperate to use the toilet so he just opened the door to the forbidden cubicle and walked in. Needless to say there was mass hysteria from the boy in the toilet, who all came screaming out. Turns out that the door had just been stuck with bubble gum. I also later found out that the teachers knew about it, but never told because they liked the idea of an emergency staff toilet that was always free and CLEAN!

My primary school had normal sized loos for the infants and kids sized ones in the juniors. I thought that they had bigger loos in the infants as infants tend to chuck up more.

When I was young I would always look between my legs into the toilet while I went pottie. I figured if I saw the lobsters as they were coming out I would make a break for it and I might get out before they pinched my bum.

When i was young we had an outside toilet. I was told not to sit for too long or else spiders would crawl up my bum and lay their eggs.
I had always seen the "Rest Room" sign on a door in Burger King, and I imagined that some sort of sleepy paradise was behind it: wonderful beds everywhere, lots of pillows, folks catching a nap during a hard day . . .

My brother,Myles Kidd, being Scottish and having recently learnt to read, once went into a Ladies loo, believing the sign to read "Laddies"!
I thought that toilet seats were covers to stop men splashing etc and to keep the seat clean and that you sat on the cold bit. I continued to use toilets in this way until my late teens disgusted at the way other people failed to use the cover properly.

When my dad first told me about chemical toilets, I thought that the chemicals will dissolve the wee, poo and loo paper. How wrong I was as the only thing it dissolves is my sense of taste and smell.
I used to think that there was a monster who lived in the toilet, so I used to wait until the last minute, then rush, because if I spent too long on the toilet it would reach out and get me. (I even now worry about my husband spending so long in the bathroom!) Also, I had to run out of the room once I had flushed the toilet, as that's when it's most likely to get you and suck you in!

As a kid I use to think that when I would sit on the toilet a witch's hand would come up and grab my bum. It was pretty frightening.
I used to be scared ****less (excuse the pun) of the toilet as, for a few weeks, when I flushed it the water would rise abnormally to the very top of the loo and stop there just before flooding. I thought it was doing it only to me as it was evil or something and to nobody else. It turned out tree roots had grown into the sewer pipes...

Because I took so long to use the toilet, my parents convinced me that a 'man with a shovel' was waiting at the end of the pipeline to collect my deposit and was about to go for his dinner-break, so I better hurry up. Most times his dinner must have gone cold before I finished!

After a very confusing explanation of sex and reproduction from my older brother (he was 11 and I was 9) I was convinced that babies could come out of your bum at any time. Therefore it was essential to check the toilet pan for babies before flushing.

When I was little and we went on trips, every so often we would have to stop at a road side park to use the out-house. My biggest fear was sitting on the toilet. I was scared to death that a spider would come up and bite my butt or worse........ I would catch "Crotch Crickets" to avoid this from happening I would have to straddle the hole. To this day I still do the same thing. Hey, Ya never know!
