I used to believe…

As a kid, I was scared of things coming out of the toilet while I was sitting on it...a rat, a snake, a hand. The worst was what I thought would come out when I was done using it. I was scared to death of getting shots, and I thought that if I kept my naked bum near the toilet for too long, a mean man would come up and jab me with a needle. When I was through using the toilet, I would turn around as fast as I could, pull up my pants, flush the toilet and RUN! I had to run downstairs and sit on the couch before the toilet was done flushing or the evil shot man could still jab me with that needle. Really stupid, but I still get freaked out when my naked bum is facing a flushing toilet.

I used to believe that you could fall in the toilet and then a big monster would eat your brains out!

I used to have a fear of nocturnal visits to the toilet after seeing a program about rats coming out of toilets at night. I will go now, but only with the light on and I sing loud to scare any rats away!

I used to think that whenever you flushed the toilet germs would come spraying out, so I ALWAYS made sure to close the toilet lid, then I washed my hands, opened the door, flushed and ran for it!!
Then I went to a public toilet, and, horror of horrors, IT DIDN'T HAVE A LID!!! I was so terrified that I opened the door, wen't and got a stick, and reached in and pushed the button with it before runnin like hell for home and then washing my arm with disinfectant, which turned out to be mouthwash as I couldn't read.

Heard the HOME TRUTHS broadcast this morning, and thought of my own 'toilet werewolf' (50's USA) My sister and I used to believe that if you didn't *quickly* wash hands, flush and vacate the WC FAST, after depositing, a huge werewolf/Chewbacca-like creature would shoot up and drag you down with it by clamping its giant jaws on your your bum. Still get a bit scared at the thought...

I used to believe…

When i was young, I sat on the toilet for ages, and fell asleep! When I woke up I wiped my bum and somehow managed to pull out a long, brown thing, a bit like a massivly long worm...
I was convinced from that day on that if you sat on the toilet for long enough you got attacked by the "bog worms"!

My friend told me once that when she was little she went to a public toilet and saw blood in the toilet. She ran out to tell her mother that she was convinced someone had been murdered and the body was hidden in the cupboard in the cubicle wall.

WHEN I WAS A CHILD I HAD A PHOBIA OF BROWN WOODEN TOILET SEATS, THE BIG LIGHT BROWN UNVARNISHED ONES WERE THE WORST, CLOSELY FOLLOWED BY THE DARK BROWN VARNISHED ONES. PUBLIC CONVENIENCES WERE A NIGHTMARE AS THEY ALL HAD THEM. MY MUM HAD TO COVER THEM UP WITH TOILET PAPER SO THAT I COULD NOT SEE THEM, IF I DID SEE ONE I WOULD GO HYSTERICAL. I AM NOW NEARLY 40 AND STILL HAVE MY PHOBIA, THANKFULLY THESE DAYS THERE ARE NOT SO MANY ABOUT!!

I've always hated long-drop toilets. You know the ones - a deep hole in the ground with a toilet seat or plank over it, surrounded by a spider-infested shack? I was always scared spiders or other nasty creepy-crawlies (I live in NZ, so weta's were the worst) would come up and bite my bum. You'd think now I was all grown up I'd be ok, wouldn't you....... I still won't use long drops if I can help it.....

I used to believe that monsters lived in my toilet and they ate my poop and urine when i flushed the toilet.

When I was about five or six years old, our church had this foul toilet behind the altar. It was a non-flush toilet, and it was real, real deep. I used to sit on there and hang on for dear life, because I was scared that I would fall down into the thing and never be able to get back out. Yuk. Now, though I can sit on the loo with no fear... hahaha

as a kid, i told my brother that every time you flushed it costs 10 cents. this got him off the habit.

I used to think that the 'vacancies' sign outside B&Bs / hotels meant that they had toilets (because of the vacant / engaged sign on public toilet doors!!) I never understood why anyone would go to a hotel with a 'no vacancies' sign.

When I was little, I used to be scared to use the bathroom on the first floor; I had a phobia that Abraham Lincoln lived in my shower.

My sister is 11 years younger than I am.... when she was four, I had her absolutely convinced that if you didn't replace the empty toilet paper roll with a new roll once you'd used the last of it, the police would come arrest you.
Once when she used all of the toilet paper and didn't put up a new roll, I pretended to call the police and turn her in, she cried for the rest of the day, waiting on the toiled paper police to come put her in jail.
She is 20 now, and I can still convince her of silly things like this.... still DO, too, lol!

I used to believe…

While I entered school at the age of 6, we had a lunch at an eating-place that was simply terrible. And the toilets were the worst thing. Closets were in such disgusting sheet-metal boxes and one or two of them were permanently closed.
I thought that someone closed himself inside and couldn't open the door.
Because noone helped him he died.
I used to believe that there were locked skeletons at the toilets!

I used to beleive since you know the devil is underground that he would come and take me to the underworld I was so scared to go pottie. I would wipe very very fast and go!

On a trip out of the country as a teenager. one of the guys told a friend of mine that urinals were to be used to wash one's hair. Having never seen a urinal before, she believed him, and before the trip was over, she tried it out herself. That night at the group meeting, she excitedly told the leader, "Did you see the awesome gadgets they have in the bathrooms that can be used to wash your hair? They work so well." Needless to say, the leader had some explaining to do.

When I was very young, I saw the cover of a movie at a video renatl store. It had a toilet on it with a little green-skinned creature wearing strange clothing sticking out of it. After seeing that, I always thought he'd be in what ever toilet I was using, and was waiting until it stopped flushing before he crawled out to come after me. So, I always rushed myself to get out of the bathroom before the flush finished and he could come after me. I'm 17 and I still get a creepy feeling if I'm not out of the bathroom when the toilet's done flushing...
