I thought that when you went over a speedbumb it was a dead person who had been hit by a car!
I used to always want to go to the airport even if I wasn't going anywhere and every time I go I used to think I was getting closer to the counrty that person was going.
I used to believe…
When I was in kindergarted, I rode the bus to school. There was a sort of hump at the front of the bus....naturally I assumed there was a bathroom under it in case anyone had an emergency!

When I was little I thought that there were cameras on the traffic lights and these two men were in a building that the camera wire lead to. So I thought that the two men worked there ALL day, and when they saw somebody waiting to go across the street they would change the light to red so the person can go across the street.
I used to believe…
when i was about 4 or 5 and we would drive through and stop at traffic lights, i thought that little trolls lived underground below the lights and controlled traffic in their little underground cities.

I used to believe that "do not pass" signs meant that you weren't allowed to go past that point, and got confused and almost angry when my mom passed them.
I used to believe…
When I first heard of the Underground Railroad I thought it was like a subway passage but a normal train went through it, and while the trains were going through african americans and the Underground Railroad helpers would just be down there selling clean clothes and food to African Americans. I thought that the "rail road" just lead straight to the northern states

When i was little, my gramma would tell me about how cars used to have to be plugged in in order to work. I was always thinking that they had a special car outlet, and then i was thinking that the car wouldnt be able to get very far being plugged into a wall..not even with an extension cord.
I used to believe that the handles that help people in and out of cars were actually "pregnancy handles" for women who were in labor to clutch during their ride to the hospital.
I used to believe…
When I was little we had a big Buick Riviera with power seats. My dad told me that if I put my feet under the seat when he moved it, my feet would turn into hamburger. I kept my feet out of there!
I used to believe (because my mom told me this) that there were little men that lived inside the traffic lights that operated them. She told me that was why the lights worked all the time, and if we saw a broken traffic light, she would say, "poor little man's gonna get fired for that". I believed this far longer than I should have.

When I was very little I used to believe that the big yellow-colored machinery vehicles (bulldozers, back-hoes, etc) were so big that they took up both lanes in the road (all 4 if we were on a big highway) and all the cars that wanted to go through would have to drive under them. I was terrified of this because I thought that they were so low to the ground that if your car was too tall it would get crushed. This also explained why the traffic got slower near construction sites: because the other people were terrified of getting crushed by driving under the machines, so they would be forced to just follow behind these machines which I thought could only go up to about 5 miles per hour.
You can imagine my relief when there was one on the road ahead of us and we just drove past it in the other lane.
I used to think that police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances would have a button in their cars that when they came to a red light, they could push it and it would make the light turn green and everbody elses would turn red.
I used to believe that when you turn right on a red light, you were breaking the law. I believed that untill I got really mad at my mom one day beacuse she turned right so I said, "look out mom, a police car is over there!!" But then, she explaned it to me.
I used to believe…
when i was to small to see the green man, and mum told me to wait for the green man to cross the road i expected a life size green man to walk across the road and i was confussed why i never saw him
I thought an automatic car (i.e. automatic transmission) meant the car drove itself just like "Herbie" in the Walt Disney films. I was constantly on the look out for one of these "automatic cars".
I thought that Left Luggage at a railway station was on the left hand side and I never figured why there was no right luggage. I finally twigged when I heard the expression when I was in my twenties!

When I was young my mother told me that airplanes would land on people roofs and lay eggs to have baby planes I of course said nooooo, so then she took me outside and there were egg shells all over the sidewalk I was convinced for a year that planes did lay eggs on peoples roofs
I used to think that there were little men in the street lights that would change the light from red to yellow to green. I learned later that this was just a stupid story that my dad made up.
I used to belive that when you push the flush button on the airaplane toilet a hole would open in the bottom of the airplane and shoot everything out, so I used to push the button and jump back so I wont get sucked in..
Thats how I explained the noise and the air presure
I also belived all the poop and pee would shower down on the people below and I asked at the airlines once, did I get some weird stares or what!
