I used to believe…
My dad told me that I could make the windshield wipers go on in his car- all I had to do was say "now!". Little did I know he had control of them. Darn. He also told me I could change a red light to green by saying "red light green light 1 2 3". He was just watching the lights for the other direction go red and telling me when to 'work my magic'.
i used to beleive that at the stop lights, that there was a little man inside of the light, who would see if there were any cars coming, and if so he would turn the light green or red.

When I was little about 3 or 4 I used to beleive that Planes ate pencils. We had a long commute to get to day-care every day so i would draw in the car and when ever a plane flew over i would start screaming and would hide all of the pencils! (We lived within 1 mi. of an airport so this happened every 5 min.)

I use to believe that traffic lights were operated by like oompa-loompa people under the ground and there were cameras placed all around the intersection so thast when there was too many cars in a lane, they would switch the lights.

I used to think that once you learned how to drive, you automatically knew the directions to everywhere. I never understood why my brother would always get lost.
I always thought that when you went on a airplane, it had to be early in the morning becuz when i was little, we always left before dawn. The whole logic of the situation didn't occur to me until i went on a plane in the middle of the day and didnt understand what was going on.

I used to think there were invisible people so I was always looking for cars moving with no one sitting in the front seat!
I used to believe there were elves that lived in the traffic lights that changed their colours to let cars through intersections. My mum thought I was a nutter when I tried to wave at them.

when i was younger i used to believe that the 'slippery when wet' sign on the side of the road meant that when you drove there your tires would fall off and the strings that held them on would hang out. until i was 13 i was terrified to go past one of those signs.

Ever seen a No Outlet sign? It means basically the same as Dead End. I used to think it meant all houses on that road have no electric outlets because they must not have power.
I used to believe…
From when i was about 4-13 (and still today i kinda do this) i used to play in the front yard or backyard and that when the cars passed and they saw you the ppl in them would come and get you! So everytime i saw a car or heard one coming while i was out there i would ruuuun as fast as i could either in the garage or to the door or at least to the other side of the house. Everyonce in a while i get that feeling again and i take off running.

On the A40, at the outskirts of London is Northolt Airfield. Where the road crosses the centre line of the main runway, the lamp posts are cut down in size. I used to believe (because my father told me)that this was where lamp-posts were grown.
