My family travels alot, espically when I was litte. At that point in time I thought that communter (prop planes and small jets) grew up into adult planes! I still think it is a cute idea, but I know better.....I saw the boeing plant.

I used to believe that the button in a car for the four ways was the "air bag" button, and you pressed it right before you had an accident. My boyfriend told me that when I was sixteen, and I believed it until I pressed it for myself to se eif he was telling the truth.

The UK has box junctions (I don't know whether other countries have them) at some traffic light controlled junctions. You are not allowed to stop in the box when traffic from the ahead is queuing back to the junction. I thought that the yellow box held a load of glue and you could only avoid getting the car tyres/tires stuck on the box if you were driving fast enough across the junction!

When I was younger I used to wonder how the gas tanks at the gas station could hold so much gas and so many different kinds because they were so small.

when i was little my father would take a lot of business trips. I always believed (until I was 6 or 7) that the places he would go would be located within the airplane i.e. hong kong is at terminal two and seattle is in terminal three

I used to believe that whenever you travelled in a car, it wasn't actually the car that was moving, the eart was just on a giant treadmill and the land was being pulled out from underneath you.

When I was little, my brother convinced me that the third pedal on a car (the clutch) actually made traffic lights turn from red to green. He would wait until the light was about to change then press the clutch. Sure enough, the light would always turn.

I didn't figure this one out until college. Sad, I know.

Up till around age 6, i thought the word must in the traffic signs that said "left lane must turn left" was pronounced MMM-EWWW-ST, like mew the cat makes. I always read them out loud saying it that way and no one bothered to correct me. I could read fluently by then, read the word right in other books, but not on the signs!

I used to believe…

When I was little, I thought that there were little men in the street lights that changed the color of the light. I imagined them as one being tall and skinny and the other being short and fat, and when the street lights were broken, that meant the little men were sick.

I thought cruise control drove the car and you just sat back and rode.

I saw a shop called "London Underground" in Shrewsbury, and I assumed that it was actually a London Underground station! (I was born in London, so I had travelled on the tube before)

My cousin and I used to beleive that this red button in my aunts car would make it fly (she told us that)...To this day I still don;t know what that damn button was for.

I used to think that train drivers actually steered, and that it was incredibly hard to keep the wheels of the train exactly on top of those narrow tracks.

I was crazy about trains, but this huge responsability made me not want to be a train driver.

when i was a wee lad i didn't know there were gas tanks on cars so i thought the gas filled up all the compartments inside the car like the manifolds and dashboard and ceiling.
