I used to think that if the colour of a car was gold, it meant the owners must be really rich. After all, they had managed to make a car out of gold. Now, I know its just tacky.

I used to think that if a movie was advertised on the side of a bus, that meant it was really good.

When I was little my grandmother told me that the bumps to alert you that a stop is coming were for blind drivers. I took it to be the gospel without questioning, it was only later, when I was 14 and told my older friend about the bumps I began to realize exactly how stupid I sounded.

When I was 5-6 years old, I used to think that airplanes were some kind of ''big shiny bird'' that flew way up higher than any other little bird that I saw and when I was told that people flew in them...I tried to picture people inside these things..thinking that okay?.. how'd they get in there? Did the plane eat them? I watched the plane until it flew out of my sight and ''secretly'' wished that the people could somehow escape and be able to go be with their families.Or else I'd have to tell my mommy and that airplane would get told to go to it's room!!! (LOL)

I used to believe that petrol was something you bought in jars and looked similar to mayonnaise, and that everyone had a large stash of these jars in the boot of their car.

I used to believe…

When I was younger my parents had a Ford station wagon and I thought that all cars were Fords.

I thought that the white vapour trail that planes leave behind them was actually from special 'weather planes' sent up to make the smoky trail so that weather forecasters could observe the trail and forecast the weather for tomorrow. (My husband only recently cleared this up for me!)

When I was little and I saw a sign that said..
NO STOPPING OR STANDING..
I thought it meant about people not cars(LOL)
Every time I saw those signs I thought ..''What do I do now?!'' Do I crawl,hop,,jump,etc... to not get in trouble? What if I wasn't close to the sign ? Will I still get in trouble???!!! Till This day whenever I see 1 of those signs I just roll my eyes and laugh!!!!

I told my four-year-old son to stay away from the street or a car might come and run over him. He asked, "How will the car know I'm in the street?"

I used to believe…

Someone was hanging on the back of all the traffic lights operating them and when you drove past them they would quickly jump to the other side.

When I was little I thought if you opened up the doors in car while on the highway they would act like wings and the car would start flying.

My mother had been given directions to a house she had never been to before, with one of the directions being "look for the glow-in-the-dark sign" (which, the author of the directions meant to be a "reflective" sign)...I spent the entire hour long trip so excited to see a sign that would glow in the dark...grrr...

I used to believe that the numbers on the signs above overpasses telling the clearance height were actually math problems for me to add up so that I would have something to do on long car trips.

When I was about seven I believed that airplanes dropped passengers off on the roof of their individual destinations. My mom talked for months about taking a plane to visit my grandpa, and I thought that the plane would just land on top of his house and let us off there. I was totally confused when we arrived at the airport in Buffalo!

Me and my sister used to think that Disneyland was in the clouds because we had to take a plane to get there...

When I was a kid my mom used to tell us "You need to buckle up in case we have an accident" I used to think that if we didn't buckle up it would -cause- the car to have an accident and I would start screaming whenever the car started moving before I got my belt on.

I used to believe the U.S.A. was literally over Mexico above our heads since everytime we flew up to visit Grandma the plane would fly into the sky and then we'd arrive in the USA. I guess looking at maps didn't help much either since that's the way it looks on there too.

I used to believe that a mini police-man was hidden in the traffic lights and changed the lights whenever he wanted

When I was young there were a bunch of ads on television telling you how horrible drinking and driving was. The lady who drove my carpool to pre-school always drank a Diet Pepsi while she was driving. I was terrified.
