I used to believe that God was the one playing "cars" with our cars. Sounds weird hey?

My dad told me when I was a kid that if you don't dim the "high beams" when a car is coming towards you it will make them go blind. I remember thinking why do the car companies make things that send people blind. I'm sure I missed the temporarily bit to my dad's sentence.
To this day, I find it difficult to use high beams as I just might send someone blind.

My mom always told us when we were little, the car wouldn't start unless we were buckled up. So, for the longest time I thought this was true. The first time I had a date when a boy picked up (I was 15) I looked at him in utter astonshiment that his truck would start without being buckled up. Needless to say there were not too many dates to follow.
I used to believe that when my dad said to be a good driver you "had to keep your eyes on the road" that meant you had to literally look at the road all the time and nowhere else ... which I thought was dumb because you'd miss everything going on all around you ... like the traffic!
He gave me that advice when teaching me to ride a bike...make no wonder I kept running into stuff.

I live in Holland and my Aunt always lived in California, I knew you could only get there by plane so I thought that the USA was on the clouds.
I used to think that the flashing signal arrows on the car dashboard read minds and told my dad where to turn left, and where to turn right.

I used to believe that if you waved your arms to a helicopter in the sky it would come and land. Why would I think that?
I used to believe…
I used to think that there were little faeries inside the traffic lights, and they would hold up a red, yellow, or green light whichever was appropriate at the time.
I used to believe…
That turn signals told you how to get somewhere! It wasn't till I was like 10 or 11 that I found out that the driver used a handle to make the arrow point in the direction they needed to go.

When I was a kid I always fell asleep b4 landing, so I thought that different states were in the clouds and thats why you had to fly in the air to get there.
I used to believe…
when i was young i drove with my family to the village and i saw traffic sign that was warning that we are approaching to left turn and i used to believe that it warns us that piece of crap was on the road and that we should avoid it
I used to believe that the headlights on the cars were like eyes so when we would be in the car at night I would duck or lay down in the seat so the other cars wouldn't see me!
I used to believe…
When I was little, I used to think that cars would read people's minds to figure out where they wanted to go, and that the blinker lights on the front dash was the car telling you where to turn, so you would get there. Then my mom showed me that there was a switch to make the blinkers go on, and I stopped believing that.

That a Pontiac Grand Am was really "Grand Damn"

Written directly on the asphalt on the road that ran past my school were big letters written in white paint: GO CHILDREN SLOW. There were also two life-sized children painted in white beside the warning. I always thought that two children had been run over by a car on that spot and they just painted the flattened bodies to warn other children not to step out onto the road.
I used to believe…
When i was a kid i thought that the white space in the middle of a Do Not Enter sign ment if you entred there you where suppost to write you name in that spot. One day my mom and me were going down the street and i asked her why nobodys name was ever in the white spot she said that you werent suppost to puit your name in it.
I believed that airplanes went to warp speed when over clouds as the 3 times I was on an airplane it was cloudy and pink, they might be some kind of anomoly. I thought I was going to another plane of the earth, because we left our ground, over clouds, and came in at a different ground. What further reinforced this belief is that we always go on an airplane when the destination is really far away, and geologist were talking about "plates" and "fissures" and showed a map of them, I thought they pieced it together to show what it was like before they broke off.

When I was younger, I used to believe that all the cars traveling on the right side of the highway (where our car was traveling) just so happened to have only red headlights, and all the cars driving on the left side of the highway (oncoming traffic) just so happened to have only white headlights.

When I was four I used to think that the picture and place on the side of a U-Haul truck (you know how the U-Hauls always have the name of some state and a picture relating to said state painted on the side) was where that person was moving to. I would watch the U-Hauls in my neighborhood to see where the people were moving.
I often developed an obsession with places I saw on TV or in my various learning...Egypt, the jungle, the desert...and I kept trying to convince my parents to move there. They'd been talking about moving for a long time and I had a plan that when we DID move, I would change the words on the side of the U-Haul to say "JUNGLE" or "EGYPT" instead of the place we were actually moving to, so then WE'D BE FORCED TO MOVE THERE MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
We didn't actually move until I was 11, and not even out-of-state much less out-of-country xD I still don't know if the pictures on the U-Haul mean that's where you're moving to but I don't care anymore lulz I don't wanna leave tha country anymore
