i used to believe that when i was riding in the car to my grandmas house or wherever we happened to be going that day, that it was a race. i always would think that since my mom never liked to go fast that we had the the worst car in the race, and on our right, there'd be like a corvette that would just zoom off, and on the left would be like an suv that would crush our car and put us out of the race

I don't really remember this, but my mother tells me a story that when I was about four years old she was driving me home from pre-K and suddenly I yelled, "stop the car!" When she asked why I said, "There's bird poop behind us and I think it's following us!"
I didn't realize the bird poop was stuck to the window, not just floating in the air.

When I was a little girl, I used to think my car had a brain and knew where we were going. I never saw my father use the turning signals so I assumed that the car was doing it on its own. Kind of like a GPS, I thought it was telling my dad when to turn.

I was almost an adult before I realized the reason that almost all US cities have an "Access Road", or a "Frontage Road' in them, and they seem to be very long, and meander all over the place.

My Grandfather and dad were talking about the trains near his hometown when I was 6, and he said that "They can lift the empty carts onto the track with a pitchfork" and although now I'm pretty sure he meant to say forklift I spent the next few years thinking a farmer put train carts onto the track with his pitchfork.

I used to believe that turning the steering wheel back and forth was what made the car move. So when I was 4 and I rode, with my dad, the cars that went around a track at Disney World, I turned the steering wheel back and forth rapidly and ignored the pedals. My dad had to control the pedals and eventually take the wheel for the car to go anywhere.

I remember when I was about 7 years old I saw a sign that said don't drink and drive, its thw law. So I thought that when you drank anything, alchoholic or not, it impaired your driving skills. Also, I believed that the passengers couldn't drink anything wither, because they might spill and that would cause a crash or something. (I don't know where I got that from). It wasn't until I freaked out when my dad drank iced tea while at the wheel and he explained to me just what kind of drinks were illegal to drive with.
