I believed at a very young age that there were little people in the street lights that changed the color of the lights

When I was a kid we use to travel to my grandmothers house and we had to get on the interstate. well when we got off the interstate my mother would forget to turn off the turn signal in her car and it would beep to remind her. But she told me that the car knew that we were almost there and thats why it beeped. Its sad because I believed her until I was like 13 years old.

When I was a kid I thought the yellow road sign that says "Watch for Falling Rock" meant to look for an indian named Falling Rock, and one day I asked my dad "When are they ever gonna find Falling Rock?" :)

I always thought that gas was black and slimy like heavily used oil (maybe because of cartoons). I was so convinced of this that the first time I pumped a car full of gas as a teenager and saw what came out, I thought they were trying to rip me off by watering it down!

When I was younger I thought the traingular "No Passing Zone" signs meant that you couldn't drive further than that sign. Every time we drove passed one i would thinkg to myself "well we just did!"... with a so-there attitude.

For some strange reason I used to think Hummers were the cars used to carry the dead in funeral processions. It took me until I was about 14 years old to realize the hearses carried the dead people, not Hummers.

When I first rode the train at about 6 years old, my aunt told me they were each named for how much noise they made. For example, the "Q" train stood for "quiet" and the "R" train stood for "rambunctious"

I used to think trains were really high above the ground and moved at lightning speed. I had nightmares before my first train ride, thinking it would be more like a roller coaster.

I used to believe that stop lights were run by tiny little men in yellow suits and construction hats, who crawled up into the base of the light into a big operating room at the top. It was YEARS before I was convinced otherwise.

When I was younger, after seeing all of those "dont drink and drive" ads on TV, I became upset when my father was behind the wheel with a can of soda. I said, "Dad! You're not supposed to drink and drive!"

I used to believe that the Speed Limit signs were pronounced "Speed Lime". Apparently I had seen something in French with a silent T at the end, and thought all T's on the end of words were silent. To this day I read it that way in my head while I'm driving. "Speed Lime 45."

I used to think that the green blinkers in the car points to the direction you have to go to get to your destination, LOL

I can't even tell you where I got this from..When I was about 5 0r 6 I had this strange belief that a yellow light meant turn. Whenever I was in the car with someone and the light turned yellow, I insisted that the driver had to turn. Oh, the mind of a 5 year old.

i used to believe that the signs of slippy roads meant that there were some lost handbags and that you should return them to the sign so that they could be picked up by thier owners. i found out latter it meant 'slippy roads'

When I was very young, maybe two or three, my mum was dropping my brother off at school. I came along and rode in the car. My mum was then going to drive home, but I wanted to go somewhere else, like the shops. But my mum didn't want to go there. So while I was sitting in the car, I tied pushing back against the seat - I thought I'd be strong enough to make the car change direction and go to the shops.

When I was little, I knew that blinkers told the other cars that you were going to turn, but I didn't know exactly how. Of course, I couldn't see the turn lights from inside the car,so I eventually came to the conclusion that other cars heard the little clicking noise that they make when you turned your blinkers on, and that's how they knew.

I used to believe that blinkers helped the driver turn easier.
