When I was 3 years old i used to think planes crashed every time someone threw up because of the extra weight. So it was summer holidays and my mum booked my family tickets to go to america. So we where in the plane enjoying the ride then my sister just happened to throw up.I stood up running up and down the plane saying. "the plane gonna cwash! the plane gonna cwash!". One of the passengers shouted "put a sock in it" so I took my shoe, stripped of my sock and put in my mouth. My mum picked me up kicking and screaming and forced me into my chair until we reached america. And guess what the plane didn't cwash

Once I was in the car with my mom and I heard a ticking noise and asked her what it was. She said 'the signal' and so I thought she was somehow communicating with the other drivers telepathically and that's how she knew when it was okay to turn.

This probably drove my parents nuts, haha... I remember being on trips telling my parents they couldn't go by those "No Passing Zone" signs by the highway. Also, stop signs made no sense... How long do you stop? How do you know when to go again? No wonder I got D's in driver's ed.
Also it was cool as hell the day I realized that some of the streets go in numerical order in my town from north to south.
I used to think traffic lights had sensors in them that could tell if enough people were in the left turning lane, for example, or wanting to go straight, and would turn green to lessen the congestion.

I use to believe that there were mice in the stoplights controlling when they would change colors.

When driving along, my Nana asked my dad what the yellow rumble strips (those lines on the road before roundabouts) are for. My dad made a joke about them being for blind drivers. Of course no one in the car took what he was saying seriously.... except the innocent little child in the back of the car (me). It was a couple of years before I sat up in bed in the middle of the night thinking "there can't be blind drivers! How would they see the roadsigns?"
I used to see the airliners high in the sky on a clear sunny day in the summer time. They were leaving a vapor trail behind. I didn't know about vapor trails. I thought that the plane was so high that it was scratching the top of the sky and leaving white marks.

When i waz about 4 years old. every sunday we would go out and visit my grandparents w/ my other cuzins. on the way there my dad was picking on me and saying that the steering wheel was locking up and told me we were going to crash and i kept on kicking and screaming bloody murder! LOL
I used to believe…
When I was a child, one day while travelling on the interstate with my uncle, a car passed us and my uncle said, "Whoa, he's running 75 miles per hour!"
I asked "How can you tell how fast that car is going?" And he replied, "Well, if you stare really hard into the center of their hubcaps, you'll be able to tell." So for years, I went down the road with my little head bobbing up and down, side to side, wondering why I couldn't tell how fast the cars were going. I don't even know how old I was when I finally figured out that my uncle had just been estimating the other car's speed judging by how fast we were going in our own car.
I used to believe…
When I was younger and I was in the car going through tunnels, I believed that the brake lights reflecting on the walls were aliens and the windows had to be kept shut so that the aliens couldn't get in.

i used to believe trailers were rv's and i just couldn't find the steering wheel.
I used to think that our car was special, because it new in advance which direction we would turn.
I would sit and watch the blinking lights in the dash.
If the left one came on, sure enough, we turned left.
Same for the right one.
I had no idea that it was just my Dad turning the indicators on.

I used to believe that St Pancras station was actually St Pancreas. It wasn't until I was corrected - at age 21 - that I realised what I was saying...
I'm 38 and have just had a belief shattered!
I used to think that my dad could control the volume on the car radio by simply pointing at it with his finger, but later I realized he was using the volume buttons on the steering wheel.
I used to believe…
My mum used to always tell me that I should stop at the traffic lights until I saw "the little green man come up". I was busily looking up and down the street for a little green alien type figure to wave me across the road, and of course he never appeared. But not wanting to seem stupid, I never mentioned to my mum that I couldn't see him, and just crossed the road when she did! I think I was about 8 before realising that the little green man actually appeared ON the traffic light!

I used to think that whenever we drove around at night, the moon was following us.
I used to believe that the highways just ended and if you didn't get off then you would just fall with your car. Sort of how the coyote always fell off the cliff chasing the road runner

My dad used to have one of those shop lights that is a single bulb inside a little orange cage, on the end of a long orange cord. He called it a "trouble light" and I thought that he would plug it into the car somewhere, and if it lit up, that meant there was trouble.
