I used to think that there were little men that sat on the top of the telephone poles near intersections and watched traffic. they flipped switches that controled traffic lights.

When I was about 6 or 7 I used to think "Give Way" signs meant you had to get out of your car, tell someone else where you're going, and then they'd do the same and you'd each have to travel to the other person's destination. I assumed that the only reason my dad didn't do this was because it was so inconvenient.

we used to use automatic car washes all the time, and the window i sat next to in the car had a leak(like, 3 drops would get in). i convinced myself that if the window had a leak the car would fill up and i'd drown. i wigged out so bad that every time we'd use the car wash, i'd get out and wait for them to come through!

I used to think ( when i was about 5 ) that whenever my mom put lots of groceries in the back of the car, it would tip over! I know better know though.

I used to believe that if I lay facing my window at night, cars with glowing eyes and sharp teeth would come through the window and take me away forever.

When I was little we used to drive by a Dead End sign frequently. I used to think that that was the place you take your dead animals and I could just imagine that at the end of this road there were just piles and piles of dead cats and dogs.

When i was little my mom always would always tell me that "you should never drink and drive". i guess she thought she was doing a good thing by stessing such an important thing at an early age, but as a young child i was much too young to know about alcohol or it's effects (my parents never drank), so i of course thought that "drinking and driving" meant drinking ANYTHING while driving in a vehicle, and i never drank any fluids in the car until i was older and understood what she had meant. :)
At least my "no drinking and driving" mindset made for far fewer bathroom stops on family road trips as a kid. :)

i used to believe that whenever the tyre of a car passes over a cigarette butt on the street the car will explode immediately. i was really wondering how could all the drivers avoid passing over the cigarette butts on the street so that all these cars do not explode.

When i was a kid i remember thinking that whoever had invented the blinking arrows on the dashboard of the car was brilliant. I believed that the blinkers came on to tell the driver which way to turn to get to wherever you were going.

My little sister used to belive, that little potato men controlled the stop lights. She thought that they would just push the buttons and the light would change. Whenever we stopped at a light she would wave. My parents just thought that it was nothing. One day my sister said that the potato men must be hungry, so she wanted to bring them some chips. It was only then that she realized, potato men didn't controll the stop lights

my dad always said that air planes were gaint birds that we would ride on. i would ask why dont they flap thier wings? and he would just say. thier wings are too heavy

I used to believe…

When I was about 4 or 5..up until i was about 7 or 8 I was always told that it was pigeons that changed the traffic lights to red amber and green. When i went out in the car with my mum or dad I'd always shout come on you stupid pigeons! if the light was red.

I used to believe…

It's obvious why traffic lights are always located at intersections. There is always a small building at the corner of the intersection (about the size of a gas station food store) in which the two little men live who control the traffic lights for that particular intersection. When they see the traffic is letting up, they can safely turn the light red without any accidents. After an allotted portion of time, they would turn the light green again.

I used to believe that it was a strange coincidence that every time the train I was sitting in passed a railroad crossing, the gates were closed. When we travelled by car, the gates were almost never closed.

I used to believe…

When i was about 3 or something, I thought that an air plane would come park infront of your house like a car and you would go in it... i didn't know that there were air ports.. i remember waiting infront of the door saying wheres the airplane?? hahaha

i used to think that mice worked in the traffic lights and pushed the red, yellow, and green buttons all day when they felt like it. and that was why each light we had to wait at was either longer or shorter than the other one.

I used to think that the handicap symbol was just a bunch of lines. I knew that it meant handicap, but I didn't really think about what it was. It wasn't until I was 14 that it clicked, "OH! It's a man in a wheel chair!" I never told anyone about my shame.

I used to believe that after you went to the bathroom in an airplane, a hatch would open up in the bottom of the plane and dump the waste out into the air.

I used to believe that stop lights were operated by mice who would pull light chains inside the box like the mice in Cinderella.
