I once heard on the news when you drink and drive you get arrested and you get put to jail.So one day my mom got a bootle of coke at the store and started drinking it when she was driving and we stopped at a stop light there was a police car right behind us. So when I saw him right behind our car I started balling my head of screaming mom is going to get arrested cause shes drinking while shes driving but then she said she wasnt going to get arrested.

Someone told me that airplanes could crash into stars when I was younger and until this summer I believed that, and I'm 18!

hall of fame

i used to think that airplanes dropped every passenger off at his/her own house.. i was always excited to have everyone on board see my house.

I used to think that "don't drink and drive" meant that you really couldn't drink ANYTHING and once lecured my mom for drinking coffee while driving. I was about 4.

When I was about 7 years old, my father, working as a diving instructor, told me that two of his students, one blind and the other almost blind, were driving around together. The car was built of the blind man, and the other was telling him where to drive all the time...
Now I'm 33, and there was just a few years ago i figured out that my father was tricking me!

4 years ago I traveled by plane with two of my sons alone, the kids were pretty worked up and to ensure that they will be calm during take off I planted a seed in their head. I said that to make the plane take off they have to push the button you can adjust your seat with as hard as they could until the plane is airborne. The oldest one is now more than 7 years old, but he is still pushing the botton believing that he makes the plane take off :o)

When I was little I used to belive that aeroplanes was moving really slow and that they could easily plumit to the ground because sometimes it came smoke out of the back of the plane. "I my mind planes are very fragile."

I used to believe that my parents' cars were sentient because they always "just knew" what our destination would be. I mean, there was always a little blinking arrow on the dashboard that pointed in the direction we were turning. I spent a whole afternoon inspecting the cars, just looking for the little man or the microcomputer that directed them.

I used to believe…

When I was about 3-7 years old, my parents parked their cars in a drive way that was directly behind our living room wall, and whenever we would be sitting in the living room at night, I was afraid that my parent's cars would start up on their own and try to kill us all by running through the living room wall and run us over.

As a young child, I used to delight myself in the car by reading the street signs and thus proving to my mom that I was in fact the smartest little kid ever. One day, however, I came across a word I had never seen before. I stared at this foreign word for as long as possible before finally asking my mom, "Mommy, why are only pediatricians allowed to cross here?" My mom quickly realized what I meant and corrected me. In reality, the sign said "Pedestrian Crossing." But hey, give me a break. I must have been three or four.

i used to beleive that when i was flying in an airplane i thought i would see a bunch of dead people on top of the clouds.

Lots of people here admit shamefacedly to clearing up childhood misconceptions only in their teens or even twenties. Is late sixties a record?

When I was little we used to go for holidays at Brighton. A special train called the Brighton Bell took us there. My memory from age 2 was reinforced for several years by the picture of it in my trains picture book. The name Brighton Bell made perfect sense to me because it was, unusually for that date, an electric train. A steam train on that route would no doubt have been called the Brighton Whistle. I had no occasion to think about it after the age of maybe six, but about thirty years later a magazine article about the history of sea-bathing jogged my mind and I thought "Er, maybe that should be the 'Brighton Belle' ?" But by then I was hardly sure this was a real memory it would have been trouble to find out. So I waited another thirty years for internet and Google to be invented and sure enough the other day found out there was this famous and in its day avant-garde train called the Brighton Belle; images on the net fit with such very pale memory as remains to me.

So that misconception is cleared up now, shows I do get there in the end. I get there slowly but oh yes I get there I get there.

I used to think that if i stuck my arm out the window while in a moving car, it would get caught in the other cars' windows when they rolled them up. I also thought that if i stuck my head out, rocks would fly into my eyes

When I was a kid, me and my neighbourhood buddies often played in the trees and bushes that were growing beside the railway embankment. Climbing the trees, building tree houses...

For some reason we thought we were not allowed to be playing there. So every time we would hear a train coming, someone would yell "PHOTO!!"

And we would all quickly turn our backs to the passing train, covering our faces with our hands.

We believed the engine driver would take our pictures and report us to the police :-)

when i was younger and for years i used have to run up to somthing before a car would pass. but if the car passed me on the road before i could get to , say a lamp post. somthing bad would happen. i couldnt go asny where without having to do this. it ruined my life

I remeber when i was about 5( 8 yrs. ago) that when the car door autamatically locked, that the energizer bunny, the one with the drums did it, dont ask me why I thought that, i was 5.

Well when i was at air ports I would always wonder what the other planes did Dad was in the military and said he went one upside down planes so I asked mom if that plane over there was an upside down plane (Pointing at the other porting station) She said yes and i was freaked from that day on!

My mom always said that if the guy in the caboose waved at you and you didn't wave back it meant you were not wearing any underpants. Imagine a small child standing there waving like crazy and sometimes there would be no one on the caboose.

When I was around 7 yrs, i beleived that cars and bikes moved forward because of the thrust and gasses which came out of the silencer which was actually situated at the rear end, just like the rockets. After few years I realized that the trucks and buses had the exhaust pipe on their sides then why didnt they moved sideways,,,,, then my father made it clear to me that they actually moved because of their engines which rotates the tyres.

I was scared of one particular roadsign. The triangle one with the two old people on it. I thought that they were zombies and wheresoever (good word, that) that sign was, there was always the danger of zombies. Every time we drove past the sign I would lock the car doors and shut the windows.
