When my family would go on car trips I would often notice signs that said "Do Not Pass." I used believe that it was against the law to go past the sign, and that the cops were going to come arrest my father as he would pass numerous ones often at high rates of speed. I would slouch down in my seat and look around nervously waiting to be pulled over and arrested.
I didnt understand how we were never arrested until we were driving one day and I mentioned to my father my fear, that he laughed so hard he had to pull the car over and explain it to me.
I used to believe that there was only one light bulb for each direction in traffic lights and that little elevators were used to move the lights up and down to the red, yellow, and green windows.
I haven't got a full drivers license yet so my driving is still "premier" learners permit quality. My six year old niece wanted to know "why the road is always bumpy when Melvin's driving"!

When I used to be in the car with my friend and her dad, he would tell us off because the windows were steaming up and say it was our fault for breathing and that we should stop it. I would try to hold my breath for the entire journey because I thought he was serious, and try and be really gentle when I had to exhale. I really thought he was serious - I could've made myself ill!!

i used to believe that airplanes had special magic, cos anytime they fly high into the sky they always get smaller.
i always thought the passengers also shrink in size with the airplane when the plane is high in the sky.
i used to think that traffic lights were controlled by police men. i had a very clear image of police men sitting infront of a model version of the streets (which of course only consisted of my town) and pushing buttons, they'd say things like that little girl wants to cross the road lets stop the cars...
I used to believe that my dad could turn the rain of when we were on the motorway in the car and we went under a tunnel the rain would go off . We used to lean forward in the car to see what button he was pressing he did this for years untill we noticed .
