I use to believe that the world turned at all the right spots while we were driving in our car. So, the car wouldn't actually be moving, but the world was just turning for us. I use to wonder how cars travelled in a different direction...

Back when I was around 6-7 years old I used to think the antenna on cars was like an antenna on a remote control car, and that god was controlling all the cars at once.

I used to believe the lane marker bumps on the road and on the shoulder were a type of braille so blind people could drive.

Whenever we were in the car, I used to believe that it was the scenery that moved, not the car. By turning the steering wheel, my mom was adjusting the street and the brakes were a way to make everything stop. Also, if it was night and the moon was out, I believed we were racing it.
Sometimes (by changing the road) my mom won, but mostly she lost.

When I was very young my father would turn on the cruise control on certain road trips. He would then show me that he did not have his foot on the gas. He would tell me that there was a giant magnet in the road pulling alon the cars.

I used to believe that the traffic lights were controlled by gnomes in air balloons, and that if you asked the gnomes to change the color of the light they would. I thought there was someone inside the refridgerator turning the light on and off and I thought soap operas were reality TV.

As a child I thought each car had its own lane on the highway because I always heard my parents say, "Get out of MY lane."

Traffic lights were controlled by people in towers looking down at the streets. When there was a long line of people at a red light, the controllers would see, and switch it to green. I did wonder how it worked when the controllers left work, though.

This is my dad's explanation to me and my sisters when we were young as to why people stopped their cars at traffic lights: drivers like the sight of the red traffic lights so much that they stop their cars and look at them. They dislike looking at the green lights so much that when the light changes from red to green, they simply drive away.

I used to believe that some little guy lived on the traffic light and decided what cars can go and what cars can stay. So one day when I was walking with my mom I shouted at the traffic light to see if anyone was there. He didn't say anything so I thought he was deaf or he was busy.

When I was little, that my parents told me that they swerved to avoid bags on the road because "you never know what could be in it." I always imagined people leaving bags of kittens or puppies in the bags to be run over. It was much later that I realized my parents were thinking of sharp things that could puncture their tires.

Everyday when riding the bus I would wonder how many miles we had to travel. I asked my mom to explain this to me, she said that a mile was a measure of distance. So I said ok and went on with that. Later on I thought that a mile was the distance between 2 road signs.

When i was little i use to think boogie men lived inside car and airplane seats. So everytime someone accidently knocked into the back of my seat I thought the boogie man was trying to freak me out. Stupid boogie man and his stupid scarey games. I didn't like when he did that.

Heh, this is pretty silly, but when I was a kid, I always noticed that the signal lights in the van I was always driven around in somehow started blinking a few seconds before my mother turned the van. Naturally, I came to the conclusion that the van knew where to go and kept on blinking those lights to show my mom where to go.

I used to believe, driving in front of all the other cars on the highway, Knight Rider was leading the pack.

I used to think cars drove in perfect single file lines.

This is more story-like.
My mom was driving us home, making a left turn, so she turned on her left blinker. I was amazed, and asked her how the car knew where we lived.

When I was really little, whenever my father and I were out driving and there was a "Watch for Falling Rocks" sign, he used to tell me that there was a Native American man named Falling Rocks. It doesn't stop there. He then went on to tell me that Falling Rocks used to hide on the tops of cliffs and throw rocks at cars.

I thought that everyone must keep the steering wheel moving a little left to a bit right stoplessly while driving a car or the car will go in crooked way. I always see my mom doing that and in some cartoons and tv shows.
