I used to believe that when seeing a road sign saying "BLIND DRIVE" it meant to watch out because there were blind people driving around.

I used to believe…

When I was too short to see out the drivers side of the window to see cars on the opposite side of the road (I could only just see their roofs through the front widescreen), I believed that there was only one lane on every road when we were driving and that cars could magically squeeze past each other by becoming thin for a moment.

This isn't actually my belief, but I got someone else to believe that the little bumps that are on the buttons on the steering wheel are brail for blind people to use.

I used to believe…

When driving with my grandpa one day, we passed a "Blind Drive" sign. I asked him what it meant, and he said "It means that the driveway doesn't have any eyes". I believed for the longest time after this that most most driveways had eyes and could see me (and I felt sorry for the ones that didn't)

One day we were at an air show, and my dad was explaining to me how the planes lived in hangers when they were not flying. I was intrigued how you could put something as big as a plane on a clothes hanger.

I used to believe that a little man would live in a street light and when he was spost to he would press a button for the light to change!!!

When I was a little girl, my parents' friend from England came to visit us. I asked him if it was a long drive to Canada and he said: "I flew!". I looked at him wide-eyed and asked : "Where's your wings??!" Then the adults burst out laughing and I was angry and still confused about how the crazy bird-man got to my house.

When I was little I used to think that cruise control meant that you didn't have to steer or push the gas. The car just drove on it's own!!

I used to believe that when you drove past other cars at night, you had to count them with a number ticker thing - that was the only explanation I had for the clicking noise our car made when we passed an oncoming car. The noise was of course my father dimming his headlights so that he wouldn't blind other drivers.

I used to believe that little gnomes worked in the traffic lights. One would run from red to green to yellow at the appropriate times. I used to sit in my parent's car at the red light straining my eyes to see the tiny door the gnomes would enter through on their way to "work".

I used to believe…

When I was younger, my grandmother used to come visit us quite frequently. So in order to pick her up, we would go to the airport, and as I watched her get off the plane, the realization hit me that if she kept arriving from planes, she must obviously live in one! So from that day onward, when I saw an airplane in the sky, I would shout "Look, it's Mama (grandmother in Chinese)!" And the thing was my brothers, who were ten years older than me, did it, too! So I believed it for a long, long, long time. It wasn't until many hundreds of times later and then my riding an airplane for myself did I realize the error of my ways.

When I Was little, I believed that everyone who had vans without windows were kidnappers!!! KI even told my parents that, and I didnt realize why they laughed at me. Years later, they still tell my husband!

when I was younger my mum told me that when you're on a plane the shutters have to be open during take off otherwise terrorists could target the plane, I have since developed a fear of flying and she wonders why!

Until I was about 12 or 13, I used to think that traffic jams were caused by a really slow driver at the end of the road/motorway.

We had a Ford Pinto, with the back passenger windows that flap outward. I used to believe that if my brother and I flapped them open and shut fast enough, we could make the Pinto fly.

Having seen enough red octagonal STOP signs in my time, I used to look out for green circular GO signs.

I used to believe…

From the time I was about 2-5, I didn't realize there were 2 lanes on the streets. Whenever we got in the car, since of course I was short and could only see through the windsheild, I was always scared that we would run head-on into another car. I finally had the bright idea to ask "How come we never hit any of the other cars?" and when I got the answer.. wow. Adults are smart!!
