I used to look for an Indian along the roadside because of signs that stated
"watch for fallen rock"

When I was little I believed there was a little mustached man (not unlike Gomez from The Addam's Family) under the road that pulled a string to make the traffic lights change. I still think of that now, lol.

I used to believe that when little pebbles would hit our car while driving, it was because kids outside were throwing them at us. I think my mom might have told me that for some reason.

I used to believe…

When I was little, I thought that a "no outlet" sign meant that the street didn't have any electrical outlets. It always puzzled me how the people in houses on "no outlet" streets could get by without power. Similarly, I thought that a "dead end" sign meant that there was a heightened risk of something bad happening on that road, so if you got hurt or died, at least you were warned.

I used to believe…

When my brother and I were little and my dad used to pick us up to go to the city he would yell, "Idiot!" at all the people that passed us on the highway just because he thought we thought it was funny. One day I asked, "Dad, why do all the idiots drive in front of you?"

I used to think that the car was stationary and God was pulling the road from under us, to give us an illusion of movement.

I used to believe…

When I was younger I used to believe that the signs that said "No Outlet" meant that all the houses down that street had no electrical outlets or electricity. I remember looking at the houses and thinking "Wow, that's a pretty house, too bad it doesn't have electricity." I always used to wonder why anyone would want to live on those streets.

I used to believe…

When I was little i used to belive that the car could break any minute. When Mom pushed the brake/gas pedals,I freaked.I began to take in the idea that the car could come apart any moment and we would be out on the road and getr run over.I'd have to thank my older brother for that belief....

I used to believe…

Whenever I'm with my mom when she's driving,I look at the cars in front of me and I see the lights in the back of the car in front of us. For a while I thought those light were eyes. So when the car turns on the blinker, I think it's winking at me.

I used to believe…

when i was in kindergarten going on the way to school, the person I carpooled with said that the cars were going ten different ways on the intersection ahead. (she was exaggerating). I spent the next five years figuring out how cars could possibly go that many ways at once.

when i was little about 4 or 5 while i was in the car i used to imagine all the cars on the road were in a big race and that we had to go the fastest so we would win the race and get a prize. weird yet true

I used to believe that the arrows in ur car telling u which way to fo ACTUALLY told u which way to go. Like me and my mom got lost going to a baby shower so i kept telling her "follow the arrows" i just oculdnt understand how someone could be sooo stupid to get lost when they had the arrows.

I used to believe…

For a very long time when I was little I used to believe that those big plastic containers on top of some cars(used to pack things) contained dead people being taken to the cemetery. I guess it was because I'd never been told otherwise and they're about the same size as a coffin.

i used to belive that traffic lights were my friends, and i (no one else) could talk to them, and tell them when they could turn green, and red... there was one i used to like im particular who i always talked toooo... :( but then we moved away

I used to believe…

When I was younger, I believed that the way the stoplights at intersections worked, were by construction men in underground dirt rooms, looking at the traffic through tiny cameras. And they decided when to change it from green to red. I still have no idea why 'till this day.

I used to believe that 'busking' involved popping car tyres and playing guitar at the people inside. I spent all of those long car journeys when I was young in fear of 'being busked'.

I used to believe…

In maryland the tags had three letters and three numbers. The three letters on the tag for my moms car almost matched her initials. So I thought that the letters on everyone's tags were actually their initials and that they had just made a mistake and sent my mom the wrong tag. One day on the beltway I saw a tag with the *same number* and my *mother's correct initials*! I begged my mom to stop them so we could trade the tags back!!!
