When I was *very* young (though it continued to a worrying age) I was convinced that a zebra was a kind of flightless bird.

I thought a "cat burglar" was either a burglar who stole cats, or some kind of evil cat that burgled....wasn't quite sure if I could believe my mom when she told me what it actually meant.
When my mom would say that my eyes were bigger than my stomach I thought she meant it literally.
