When I was very young, my favorite movie was "Lady and the Tramp." Well, there's one scene in the dog pound where a dog is taken away to be put down. Not understanding that animals are put to sleep in animal shelters, I asked, "Mommy, where are they taking that dog? And why are the other dogs all sad?" She replied, "They're taking him to get a bath, honey." At the time, I believed her without questioning. I don't remember how old I was when I found out that she was lying.
