When we drove to visit my grandmother we always got on the highway by turning left near a "No U Turn" sign.
I always thought my dad was going to get arrested because I thought it meant "No You Turn," as in "No Turns Here" (apparently I thought the Sopranos wrote all our street signs).
A childhood belief about road signs

others believed things like this
- I used to believe that you could not make the car turn left or right without turning the blinker on.— Christy Shane
- I thought that cars could only make turns when you used the turn signals...— Toby
- I thought that the "don't walk" sign at crosswalks meant to run across the street as quickly as possible!— richard
- when the sign on the highway said do not pass and dad did i thought he would be in great dangerAnon
- I thought that the women who drove the bookmobile actually wrote all of the books on the shelves.— Dan
- When I was young, I thought that when you turn the blinkers on in the car, it made the car turn.— Cassidy
