When I was in elementary school, my mom would always complain about the large amount of cops on the roads at the end of the month. She always said that they were "getting their quota in"....I thought she was saying "quarter" and for the longest time I thought cops got paid a quarter for every person they pulled over.
A childhood belief about police

others believed things like this
- I thought that a quarter hour was 25 minutes long, since a quarter was worth $0.25.— Crystal
- I used to believe that a quarter after the hour was 25 minutes after the hour because 25 cents = a quarter.— Marni
- I used to believe that The Quarter moon was God's fingernail clippings— Brandon
- i used to think that a'quarterback' was some guy who ran around with a giant quarter on his back! i was dumb— :]
- I thought that serial killers had serial numbers like products did so the cops could identify them easier. — C
- I used to believe that undercover cops hid under covers/sheets. — Holly
