I used to believe that American, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, and French were the only languages in the entire world! When my mom told me my last name was none of those nationalities, I was shocked!

One of my classmates in kindergarten told me that Germans were filthy people and that Germany was a place filled with germs and you can get sick if you come in contact with a German. I believed this for a very long time and started to be scared of other people, because they might be german and i didn't want to get sick!

I used to believe that Germans were Nazis and liked Nazi related things. So one time in 2nd grade i drew a picture of her wearing a swastika shirt and showed it to my teacher(who is German). I didn't know why she was so mad when i showed it, i thought that she would like it because she was German. I had no idea that most Germans hate Nazis!

When i was a kid i saw a man wearing a turban and i thought he was a genie. I asked him if he was a genie and my mom told me he wasn't and that he wears one because it's part of his religion. I was disappointed but thought it was cool

I used to believe that people from germany were called germs, and that they had a lot of germs. I was afraid to shake hands with my mom's friend because she was german and i didn't want to catch her germs!

I used to associate certain countries with stereotypes and believed those were true in real life, not just movies. For example, i thought all germans shouted a lot and were obsessed with nazis(like in the war movies), and stuff like that.

My best friend told me that when germans say nein, they are meaning the number nine. I believed this until I was 12

I used to think that German people had more germs than other people because they were "Germ"an.

So whenever I got a sticker from an employee at Walmart that has a german accent, I would get the hand sanitizer from my mom's purse and put it on my hands and the sticker and when they asked why, I would say that I do that so I wouldn't get any germs from him/her, as they have a german accent and that made me believe I would catch germs from them. I was 6 when that happened
