i used to think that the word'amen' was actually 'our men'. so when i was gathered round a table with my rather large christian family, aged seven, and we said thanks for the food, the prayer ended with amen, and i called out at the top of my voice 'and our women too!'
A childhood belief about prayers

others believed things like this
- "God is good, God is great, lettuce thank him for our food Amen"— pj
- there was a young girl i used to know that would say 'onion' at the end of grace, instead of 'amen'— matt
- I used to believe that in the Christian Prayer of the Faithful, we were responding, "Lord, harrow prayer."— Smelleanor
- In the Hail Mary prayer, I used to say 'Bless a dark fowl among women' rather than 'blessed art though'Anon
- I used to wonder why so many cops in movies were called "Lieutenant" as a christian name.— chris
- My mother convinced all of us kids in our family that the large rhubarb in the garden was a Man-Eating Plant. — H.Miller
