Every morning in grade school we said the Pledge to the Flag. The Pledge includes the words "... one nation under God for which it stands...." referring to the flag. For many years I really wondered what those witches' stands were like. Were they like vegtable stands with witches hanging around or what?
A childhood belief about the pledge

others believed things like this
- I used to think "from which it stands" was "for Richard Stans".
— cobra - "...and to the Repulblic, sandwitches stands..."
— Shirley B. - for my first Internet year, i believe all the ".ca" sites stands for Calif State websites.— ray cheng
- I used to believe that the "Pledge" of Allegiance had something to do with our "Pledge" cleaner. — Pledge
- Through second grade I always concluded the pledge with '...indivisible, with liberty and just a straw.'— George
- I used to believe it was illegal to not recite the pledge at school. Anon
